Chapter 17

Zhan's legs were now chained to the ground as his heart dropped to the floor. He was bewildered by his brother's question. That was one of the queries that he least expected or never wanted to hear at the first place.

He stood still, froze on spot. His mind went blank as the question kept echoing in his ears.

"Answer me! " Cheng's voice helped him raise from daze.

He shook his head as he turned around to face his brother.

"What? " Zhan raised a brow.

"You still love him, don't you? " Cheng asked in a confident voice.

"I don't! " Zhan gave a blunt reply, but his voice wasn't as sharp as he thought it would be.

"Are you sure, Xiao Zhan? " Cheng seemed adamant.

"A-Cheng... What's wrong? " Lu tried to calm her brother, but he seemed to be out of control.

"Jie, please stay out of this! " Cheng said without lifting his eyes off Zhan's face.

"Answer me, Mr. Xiao Zhan. "

"I don't have time for your nonsense. " Zhan retorted.

"Nonsense? So who's doing nonsense now? " Cheng yelled.
"Was I the one who made a clown out of myself in front of the media? "

Zhan's face turned red due to embarrassment.

"Fuck! " Zhan mumbled.

"Yes! That's what! I guess you did do that with him for you to know all those information! " Cheng said with a sarcastic laugh.

Zhan's already red face turned even redder cause of Cheng's words. You have to trust him if he says he wasn't blushing, he was just angry.

"What the fuck, Xiao Cheng? " Zhan yelled as he took a step forward.

"That's exactly what I'm asking! What the fuck are you up to, Xiao Zhan? " Cheng asked in a calm yet sharp voice.

"A-Cheng, A-Zhan... Please don't fight. " Lu pleaded but she knew that her soft voice didn't even reach her brothers ears.

"You said you'll fucking bring him down! But, you are dragging yourself and our entire family into the damn pit! " Cheng stormed.

"Cheng, it isn't----- "

"Just shut up, Xiao Zhan! How can you even defend yourself after everything that happened? Are you that shameless? "

Zhan just zipped his lips and took a deep breath to calm himself down.

"Dragging him down? How? By destroying yourself? "

"Cheng, I did really appreciate it if you purse your lips now. "

Lu who was watching this, silently slipped into the kitchen. She knew that her presence wouldn't matter as the two brothers were out of control.

"Why should I? I'll speak! I fucking asked you to stay away from them! But you didn't listen. And now... Look at what you have done! You defamed yourself instead of defaming him! "

"Cheng, listen---- "

"No! You listen! What are we even achieving by harming them? Just what? What's gone is gone! It isn't like we'll get to live the life we lead in past if we bring them down! "

"So... What do you want to say? "
Zhan watched his furious brother.

"Stop it, Xiao Zhan! Just stop it all. Let them live in peace. " Cheng said in a comparatively calm tone.
