Young IndyCar driver Shawn Mendes has it all. Amazing family and friends, money, fame and beautiful girls at his beck and call. Well... all except for a certain brunette who seems immune to his popularity and charm.
Camila, an avid race fan grew u...
I woke up this morning nervous and very stressed out. Tonight's the Indy 500 Gala and my one final attempt to win Camila back. The perfect plan is already in place and I've been cleared by Larry and my doctors at the rehab place to leave for the night.
I've been working extra hard on getting used to my new crutches because I'm determined as ever to walk with them; still not pushing myself too much, but getting to the point I can stay on my feet and walk for longer than five minutes is the goal.
Niall and Aaliyah come by a little while later. My sister brought me the suit I'm going to wear tonight while Niall packed up my guitar and a couple other things to bring to the ballroom where the gala is being held. Before he heads out he tells me he'll text me when things are in place and my driver can bring me to the event.
The hours are winding down and I'm getting more and more anxious and nervous. The pit in my stomach is bottoming out the closer I get to tonight.
My phone dings and instantly grab it, selfishly hoping it's a text or missed call from Camila. What I see is well....

She's captioned it with simply "Ready for the Gala. Wish you could be here. Miss you too."
Tears well in my eyes as I stare down at her picture, quickly liking it without a second thought. She looks breathtaking and sexy; and I feel like this is some sick, twisted sign that she's ready to forgive me. I know her message is directed at me, it has to be. I mean...Aaliyah did tell me about her text last night and I felt myself getting more and more hopeful that if tonight goes off without a hitch, I'll have Camila back in my arms.
I close my eyes briefly and allow myself to daydream of having Camila sitting on my lap, wrapped in that dress, kissing me like there's no tomorrow; us whispering how sorry we are to each other and putting all of this behind us. Opening my eyes, I silently pray that this dream becomes my reality.
My dad walks in a short while later with Connor and Larry and they help me get dressed in my suit. Larry pats me on the back and wishes me good luck before telling me that he hopes to see Camila back as my cheerleader very soon. I smile at him gratefully as I move to my wheelchair and head out with Connor and my dad.
Heading to the gala that's already underway, I have to stop myself from getting sick with nervousness and fear of tonight. Connor turns to me, patting my shoulder reassuringly as he tells me that everything is going to work out.
"I hope you're right man....I hope you're right!"

A little while later, I find myself sitting in the dark corner of the room. No one but my family, friends and her family know I'm here. As my time to surprise her grows near, I feel my palms getting sweaty and my body shake with nerves. This is the most difficult thing I've ever done, I feel like the stakes are even higher now than they were when I started fighting to walk again.
