I know I can't go home because if I go home tonight in the state I'm in, Shawn might be a dead man in the morning.
Speaking of Shawn, he keeps trying to call me and he's blowing up my phone with text messages. I can't. I can't answer his calls; hear his voice. I delete the texts as they come in because I can't even bring myself to look at them. I finally decide to shut my phone off for a little while.
Not knowing where to go, I drive to Emma's house. I notice another car in her driveway and figure it's probably Niall. They've been spending an awful lot of time together and I'm secretly very about it. Niall just needs to ask her out already.
Turning my car off, I honk my horn to warn them I'm coming in, hopefully giving them enough warning.
Knocking on her door, I wait for her to answer. I have a key, but I don't want to accidentally walk in on something so I think better of using it. Not totally surprising, she answers fairly quickly. Seeing that it's me, she turns and yells to Niall that I'm at the door before she lets me in.
We walk into the kitchen and I see him sitting at one of the stools at her high top bar talking on the phone.
"Yeah mate, she just got here. She's fine, but I should probably go." I hear him say. I can only assume he's talking to Shawn. After they exchange goodbyes, he sets his phone down on the counter and climbs off the chair, walking over to us. He pulls me into a hug. I'm kind of shocked so I don't react right away, but finally give in and hug him back. Pulling away he looks at me and says "That's more from Shawn than it was from me." I squirm slightly at the mention of his name.
"What happened Mila?" Emma asks as she hands me a glass of wine. Sitting next to Niall, I walk to the opposite side of the counter and lean against the lower part next to the sink.
"Well I guess to make a long story short, I go to visit Shawn just now and I find him with Stacy in his lap and they are kissing." I say quickly. The less time I have to spend talking about this, the better. "When I walked in, he pushed her off and looked at me. I yelled and left and he called after me, trying to get me to stop, but I was just too blinded by rage." I say bluntly. "And now I'm here."
Emma grabs her glass of wine and takes a large sip. I can tell she's angry because of the grip she has on her glass. "What a jerk!" She spits out. "I can't believe him. After everything you've done!" She says.
At that, Niall looks between the two of us before he asks if he can interject. We both nod in agreement. Might as well hear him out..
"I'm sure you guys know that was Shawn on the phone." He starts off. "Mila, he has been trying to reach you for the last hour and you won't return any of his calls or messages. Did you even give him a chance to explain?" He asks.
"No!" I say. "There's nothing for him to explain." I say stubbornly.
"Ehhh I beg to differ Camila." Niall says looking right at me. "He's pretty torn up for someone who should have "no remorse" for what you walked in on with him and Stacy. The fact that you didn't even give him a chance to explain himself is all the more proof you could be totally off in your assumptions." He says, trying to be a voice of reason.
"He said if you had given him a chance to explain before you stormed off, he would have told you that Stacy came uninvited and everything after that was uninvited as well." Niall crosses his arms over his chest as he continues. "In fact Camila, he had hospital security remove her; and he's filed a restraining order. She won't be coming around again." He says finally.
Emma looks from me to him. She's speechless for awhile before she finally pipes up and says "You think you might have overreacted Mila?"
I gulp loudly..."Maybe..."
"Don't you think you owe it to the poor guy to hear him out?" She asks.
My head is spinning, I'm not quite sure what's happening, but I know that I might have very well screwed up. On one hand Shawn and I still haven't really established that we can trust each other fully; yet on the other hand, I wouldn't have been by his side this whole time if I didn't feel something for him or at least trust him a little.
Swallowing my pride I answer "Yeah...I guess you guys are right. Gosh I'm such an idiot!" I say slightly frustrated that I was so quick to assume the worst of Shawn.
"Well, go make it right missy!" Emma encourages me.
I pull my phone out of my pocket and turn it back on. Of course there's new missed calls and texts from Shawn. I swipe on my screen to answer the latest text from him and type simply "I'll be there in a few" and hit send.
"I'm going to go talk to him." I announce.
"Good girl!" Emma says. "But he ends up being a jerk, let me know. I still owe him a few punches from the last time he broke your heart." She laughs and she turns to Niall.
"Relax Niall, I'm kidding!" She says giving him a side hug and kissing his cheek.
"Good luck Mila." He says to me as he smiles. "You're doing the right thing, I promise!"
"I sure hope so." I say as I walk to give them both a hug and go to leave. Emma's says to call or text if I need anything. I nod my head before leaving and walk to my car.
My phone buzzes as I get buckled. A text from Shawn. It simply says "thank you, see you soon."
Sighing, I start my engine and drive towards the hospital.
