Driving Me Crazy

Chapter 44

After we get all unloaded and into the house, half of the group decided to run into town and grab essentials we didn't pack with us, while the other half; mostly the kids, stayed back and got changed to go down to the lake and onto our boat for tubing and wake boarding once the others got back.

I'm currently in my room with Emma and Aaliyah getting changed.  I feel so confident and sexy in my outfit that I can't wait for Shawn to see.  Emma is wearing a bright green bikini and Aaliyah is wearing a hot pink one.  We look so good as we stand in front of my full length mirror and take a selfie. 

Aaliyah turns to me and asks if I'll help her braid her hair, which I'm happy to do.  Emma's phone dings with a text from Niall so she quickly exits the room to who knows where, leaving Aaliyah and I in my room with the door slightly open.

As I'm brushing through her smooth locks, she sighs happily.  "I'm so glad you and Shawn are working things out.  I was so mad at him for what he did to you, but I secretly knew you'd find your way back to each other."  I smile behind her as I start to work on her braid.  "Me too girl!"

"He wouldn't want me to tell you this, but when you were apart, he missed you everyday.  He worked on learning your favorite song as much as he could and he was adamant that I keep an eye on you because he knows we are close and he needed to know you were okay.  He loved you before he even realized that he did."

"Wow!  Liyah....I don't know what to say." I'm speechless.

"You don't have to say anything, just know that I'm always rooting for you two and I hope one day I can call you more than just my friend!" She says excitedly as Karen knocks on my door.

"What are you two talking about in here?" She asks with a smile on her face.  I have always loved Mrs. Mendes.  She's always been so kind to me and now that I'm officially with her son, she's been like another mom to me.

"Oh nothing mom."  Aaliyah replies, giggling as I secure a hair tie at the bottom of her braid.  Karen comes further into the room and sits on the edge of my bed, watching as I finish Liyah's braid.

"There! All done!" I smile warmly at her as I check her hair from the front to make sure I didn't leave any bumps.  "Thanks Mila, it looks fabulous!" She comments before she grabs her cover up and towel, and heads out of the room.

Karen stays where she is "Thank you for being so good to my children sweetheart." She says warmly.  "I am so happy for you and my son. I know that he's hurt you, but I'm so glad that things have worked out so far. I love you like my own, and if you ever need anything, don't be afraid to ask."

I smile at her and pull her into a hug as tears well in my eyes. This is a surreal moment, but I'm so grateful for her. "Thank you Mrs. Mendes!" I say as we pull apart. "Please dear, call me Karen." She says as she squeezes my hand. "I'll see you down there ya?"

"Yes! I'll be down in a few."

"Ok dear." She smiles as she begins go walk away. Turning when you she gets to the door, she says "Oh and by the way, you look beautiful. Shawn won't be able to keep his eyes off you."

I blush slightly at her words as a smile spreads across my face. I walk to close the door behind her and sit in my bathroom to finish my own hair.

Meanwhile Shawn is downstairs, already changed and ready to go when James joins him at the island in the kitchen.

"Hey man!"

"Hey James!" I say as I eat another piece of cantaloupe from the fruit tray on the island.
