when magnus thought of people he was envious of he thought of people with nice houses, a perfect upbringing, and people with enough food in their pantries to feed a football stadium.

he thought of people like dan.

and when he didn't have the things he considered the most perfect people to have, his mind shifted to something he fortunately or unfortunately did "this is about dan isn't it?" was the black haired's naïve conclusion.

though magnus wasn't surprised, emily winced when she felt her brother subconsciously squeeze her hand

shun stood up. "oh no, it's not that." he said "really if it was, i wouldn't have made such an effort to get you two together"

magnus sighed relieved to that

the young brawler's smile then faded and he looked at them both "you and your sister are just so perfect together, it's crappy of me to think like this but.. it almost makes me sad i can't have something special like you two" he looked down and rubbed his forearm going silent as memories of a happier past went through his head

"you're just so lucky magnus, to have a family that loves you even if it's just one person. i would do anything to have something special like that..."

emily furrowed her eyebrows in worry and magnus simply stared not knowing what to say.

he never thought of it that way. magnus thought he had nothing and meanwhile, shun thought he had everything. what happened that made him think like this?

after a long drawn out silence, kazami forced a weary smile on his doubtful face. he looked up meeting sight of the worry he was always used to. "w-well, i guess following you was little weird! i'm sorry about that.." he chuckled and turned around to leave "i'll see you two at dan's place!" and he began to walk off, the envied siblings left behind watching.

and normally, magnus would have let him walk off. he would have scoffed and shrug it off. maybe even feel a little flattered someone felt jealous of him, boost his ego in other words. he was not here to listen to petty backstories and this was shun kazami after all. he was the boring one, who cares about shun?!

yet for some reason, magnus couldn't help but feel a strange sense of pity for the aquos brawler. it could have just been him selfishly relating but such pity made him put a hand on the others shoulder before he even had the chance to turn the corner

shun looked over his shoulder at magnus, "wait shun" he said, "is everything okay?"

magnus could have never predicted the day he would be sitting in a diner listening in to one of dan kouzo's friend's vent out their family problems to him. yet here he was.

it was shun's idea to talk it over with milkshakes, where they stood shun spotted a diner and since he was paying how could magnus say no?

however after listening about shun's awful father and his work-obsessed cousin, he was starting to second guess his options.

"... and then he told me i was a disgrace to the kazami name" shun sighed, his hand on his cheek as he fidgeted with the straw of his drink

"wow" magnus said. through his whole sob story he had no idea what to say but in a way, he knew how shun felt "i could have never guessed you were going through all that"

"i know, i try my best to hide my problems so i don't worry my friends but... sometimes they just slip away"

"huh. and does everyone else know?"
