I found my way outside to the basements and found the one no one was allowed to go in. I tugged the door open, hearing it scrape the floor.
The moon barely lit the room, but I could see his figure laying on a cot.
"Wakey wakey..." I called tapping my ring against the bar.
"Well I was wondering when one of my wives would show up, tryna' break me out." He chuckled, sleep still evident in his voice.
I shook my head.
"I just had to come see you... I wanted to see you rot for my own eyes." I looked over his aged and gray face. "You look like death." I smiled.
"Well you look-" He cut himself off looking at me. "What the shit?" He breathed. "You're pregnant." He spoke. He was silent, doing the math in his head.
"Yeah. I am. And me and Daryl couldn't be happier-" I tried to rush my words before he interrupted me.
"No." He shook his head. "Sam is that my kid?" He asked.
"No-"
"Is that my lid?" He growled. "Is that... My kid!?" He raised his voice, making me step back.
"No, Negan." I growled back.
"You lying bitch. I deserve to know-"
I turned, leaving him to scream to himself. I walked out, walking quickly back to Daryl's basement.
That probably is wasn't a good idea, but I had to see him rotting in there for myself.
"Sam!"
I looked up seeing Daryl and opened my mouth to speak.
"The hell're you doin' down there?" He growled at me.
"I-" He wouldn't understand.
"Sam!" He demanded.
"I had to see him." I shook my head.
"For what?" He seethed. "He's probably relishing at the fact that he knocked you up! Why, Sam?"
"I had to see him for myself. I wanted to know that he was suffering for what he did-"
"He should be dead." He said, throwing his hands up.
I nodded. "But he isn't." I shrugged. "So I had to see."
"I don't get it-"
"No, you don't." I shook my head. "Daryl I'm not ever gonna heal from this." My eyes began to burn and it pissed me off that I had to explain this to him. "I have to live with what he did to me. And I can't heal. Because I'm pregnant! And in this world you don't have time to just take a moment and heal!"
"Alright-" He breathed, moving forward to hold me. "S'alright." He breathed, rubbing his hand over my back. "M'sorry." He held me as he led me back to the basement.
He rubbed my shoulders and back as he laid behind me and let me cry.
"Hey, okay." He spoke, moving me to my back. "You shouldn't be this upset." He said. "No way this is good for the baby. Listen to me, Sam. Just breathe."
I sucked in a shaky breath, and let him hug me. He pressed a few soft kisses to my jaw and neck, helping me catch my breath.
"Good?" He asked, laying beside me, holding my chin.
"Yeah." I sniffled. I watched him lower his gaze to my chest, making me want to tease his boyish behavior. My breasts had swollen in my pregnancy, and I'm sure it was obvious to him.
