I'd spent a few weeks at the Sanctuary and it had proved to be different than before, besides all the assholes who thought Negan had any chance of return.

Daryl was doing very well leading them, it was impressing to watch my once quiet redneck turn into an outspoken leader.

"Oooh." I groaned, holding onto the wall.

"Oh my God, are you okay?"

I turned back to see Laura and sighed.

"I'm fine." I nodded. "It's just a contraction." I shook my head.

"Doesn't that mean the baby's coming?" She chuckled nervously, rushing to my side.

"Yes, but not yet." I shook my head, pushing her hand away from me.

"Okay where are you headed?" She asked.

"Just up and down the hall." I said. "Walking helps."

"Okay, then I'll walk with you." She said, making me sigh.

After a few moments of silence I spoke. "They're coming sporadically, about every hour now." I said.

"That's pretty close together..."

"Not really." I shook my head. "Daryl is handling something with the gate. I don't want to interrupt him-"

"Well you're kind of having his baby. I think baby trump's gate." She laughed.

"Not if the gate doesn't get fixed and herd blows right in and mommy, daddy and baby get eaten." I shook my head, stopping to catch my breath.

"You forgot about the part where the army downstairs protects mommy, daddy, and baby." She said. "All those workers down there are grateful to you guys- I-I'm grateful."

"You didn't seem to be having such a hard life, as far as I remember." I pushed off the wall, walking again.

"It's survival." She shrugged. "If I left I'd either die out there. Or he would've killed me."

"I got out. Daryl got out." I shook my head.

"So what-"

"My point is... If you wanted to... You could've-" I stopped, holding my side as another sharp pain radiated up my spine.

"That wasn't an hour..." She shook her head.

"No shit." I breathed. "Just..." I let out a groan. "Let it pass." I blew out a breath, and noticed I was squeezing her arm. "Sorry." I released it.

"No, it's okay." She shook her head.

"Help me to the infirmary..." I told her nodding behind us.

We turned around and he held my back and pulled the door open. I sat myself on the bed and began undoing my pants.

"You need to go find Dr. Siddiq for me, okay?" I asked. I washed my hands as she walked out then I covered myself with the sheet and reached down, feeling myself to feel how dilated I was.

I couldn't feel my cervix, so Siddiq would have to look.

"Hey, what's going on?" He asked, immediately washing his hands.

"My contractions we're about an hour apart, then I had two within a few minutes of one another- woah..." I grunted, holding onto the bed, as a contraction ripped through me.

"I think I should get Daryl." Laura muttered, as Siddiq lifted the sheet.

"Wow, you're- Yes Laura get Daryl. You're in active labor." He smiled, patting my knee.
