Today was hot and sticky. My shirt was clinging to me and I could feel every little bug flying into my skin.
I let out one more grunt and rubbed over my arms harshly. I had to find some bug repellent, but at the moment I was in the middle of the woods. Yay.
I trudged through what seemed like miles of forest, until I felt a presence. I stood still, balancing on my one planted foot. I looked down, assuring I wouldn't make too much noise as I sat my foot down.
My eyes scanned over the trees, blending them together. I don't think I'd eaten in days, and it was beginning to take a toll on me.
After a moment of silence I began moving through the trees again. I'd recently started attempting to hunt for birds with a few throwing knives I came across.
I gripped the end of the blade, hearing some flapping behind me. I glanced over my shoulder, making sure it was still clear. The flapping I heard stopped, it looked like a hawk, or a huge sparrow.
"Okay." I breathed, lifting the knife, locking it on the bird. I pinched the blade as hard as I could until I flung it in the direction of the branch the bird was perched on.
Before I could see the bird fall, or my blade pierce it- a gun cocked, and the cold metal of the barrel burned the back of my neck.
Chills ran down my spine and arms.
"Don't move." It was a female.
"Okay..." I nodded. "Don't shoot me." I told her, feeling her hands move over my hips, feeling my gun, and the knife on my knee.
"Turn." She grabbed my shoulder. She was a latina woman, and a black woman, both hand their guns trained on me. "You got more people with you?" The latina woman asked.
I shook my head. "No, not anymore."
"You're by yourself?" The other asked.
"Yeah." I huffed. "And I'm not hurting anyone... so if you don't mind-"
"We do mind. You're a bit too close to our group for comfort."
"Well point me in the opposite direction and I'll be on my way." I lifted my hands in surrender.
The latina grabbed my hands, pulling something from her backpack pocket.
"Come on." I groaned, she began weaving some wire around my wrists.
"Watch your step."
After that I was blindfolded and stumbled after them as they pulled me.
They talked and I found out that the black woman's name was Sasha, and that we were headed to a church.
"Ow." I growled, feeling another tug at the wire. I could barely see out of the bottom of the blindfold, I could see where my feet were moving and where my hands were bound.
How did I get myself in this shit? Merle would totally be laughing at me right now.
"Alright, watch your step."
I of course tripped, because how the hell am I gonna watch my step.
"Very funny, asshole." I huffed.
"What the hell? Who the hell-"
"We found her in the woods, she was too close."
The first thing I noticed once my eyes adjusted to the light was my bird- well my knife in the bird I threw it at.
"Sam..?"
I looked up, and the familiarity was overwhelming.
"Oh my God! Get these ties off of her!" It was Maggie, and Glenn, and the rest of them- well some of them.
