My head felt like it was going to explode and my brain was ten sizes to big for my skull. My eyes fluttered open and wherever i was it was bright. It felt like i was looking directly at the sun. My eyes slowly adjusted to the light and i saw the person who was calling my name. "Dr. Botkin?" I whispered my throat felt as dry as the desert. "How do you feel Maria." He said while flashing a light in my eyes. What was going on? He had been arrested he wasn't supposed to be here. "What-" It was all i managed to get out before my head was overcome with a wracking pain. I Groaned and tried to lay on my side to help some of the pain. "Maria we are safe please listen to me." I could hear the hurt in his voice that i wasn't cooperating. I just wanted to sleep and have all my pain taken away. All the adrenaline from trying to survive was gone out of my body. I just wanted all my pain to melt away i didn't care if i was alive or dead or somewhere in the middle i just wanted the pain to be gone. I heard bustling from coming from outside the thin walls of wherever we were. "Where are we?" I managed to whisper before the nausea overtook me again. "That does not matter right now. You fell and hit your head horribly." A dream. That's all it was a horrible nightmare of things that weren't real. I drifted in and out of sleep for what seemed like eternity until one day dr Botkin was bustling around our little sanctuary muttering to himself. I could see that he was holding a piece of paper in his hand but it was to far away for me too read. "What is the matter?" I ask softly propping myself up on my pillows. I didn't want to move i wanted to stay here in our little sanctuary forever. "We must leave at once!" I didnt want to leave this place even if it was dank and dirty it was safe. And that's all that mattered. "No! I think we should stay here." I said with my voice raised. I had hardly ever raised my voice before. Before I was the pushover but not anymore,Now I am a survivor. "Maria read this please!" And he hands me the piece of paper dear Dr. Botkin I do not know whether you will get this letter or even hear of it but I have heard you are traveling with one of my granddaughters I hope to God it's true and not just rumors. Please know you will have safe haven in my home as soon as you arrive. Sincerely, The dowager empress MFR.
