I rolled over and saw a shadow of a man it took a while for my eyes to adjust to the sun but then i recognized him. "Dr. Botkin!!" I yelled and wrapped my arms around his neck into a bear hug."Hello Maria." He says with a chuckle. And i quickly get down off of his neck so i don't hurt him. "How did you escape?" He asked me simply. I didn't like to think about that night so took a long pause in order to get my thoughts together. "I'm so sorry i didn't mean to pry." He says softly. "No no it's alright." I say to him. "I just ran like hell" I said with an awkward chuckle. He was obviously taken aback by me swearing because he had only known me as a soft and meek girl. But she died the night that her family did. "Where are you headed too?" I asked him continuing this awkward conversation. "I am returning to Poland. I got word that my brother was dead." I could see the tears threatening to flow from his eyes so i decided to change the subject. "I am headed to Crimea where i will be safe with Grand mama." I cheerfully said with a smile as if i were just going for a nice vacation and not running for my life. "Then i will be glad to accompany you." he said with a meek smile. "But what about your family in Poland?" "Ah my dear you are mistaken i am Russian through and through it is just my brother that moved to Poland." He said seemingly very proud of his Russian heritage. Down the platform we heard a commotion and i saw the steward pointing some guards towards me. "Oh no!" I whispered. "Come we must go and do not run unless they do." I do not know how he knows this but i decide to do as i was told. Pretty soon the soldiers were running after us. "RUN!" Dr. Botkin yelled. and i ran as fast as i could then i realized that Dr. Botkin was no longer next to me. I looked back and there he was scrambling to get up off the platform. "Keep going!" He said "I will catch up!" I kept running and when i looked back again i saw two guards carrying a beat up man in between them.
