"ok anyways, are you, by any chance, into art?"

taehyung almost spit his drink out, the topic of art was one that he was so familiar with, but he definitely didn't plan on telling the girl aboutb his 'vante' persona, in fact he wanted to keep it hidden from her as much as he could, simply because yes, he really liked her but she was still a very new person in his life, he took a long time before telling his boys, he didn't plan on telling anyone else.

rumi cocked an eyebrow at this, she was sure that the question wasn't intrusive or weird. hell, she was trying to get to know more about his interests but the way he was choking on his drink had her confused. she quickly reached over and handed him a couple of napkins before leaning back on her seat.

"are you okay, taehyung?" she asked, clearly concerned about the boy who had just now stopped coughing and taehyung nodded his head furiously.

"yeah perfect, why would you ask me that though?" its only after he's uttered those words, he realizes how rude his tone sounds and before he could apologize, she just shrugged her shoulders while swirling her drink.

"you just seem like someone who'd be into art" she simply said, she really did think that taehyung was the kind of person to be into art, from the way he dressed to the way he talked with so much passion for the littlest things, and he just seemed like someone who would go to an art museum for fun.

"are you into art?" he asked carefully and he saw her eyes light up almost immediately at the question.

"i'm really into art, since only recently though, i helped with this event at an art museum and i've been in love since, there's this anonymous artist whose work is literally everywhere on social media, i like their style" she beamed, a happy glint in her eyes and his face threatened to break into a smile too.

"oh really, who is it?" he was obviously interested but also slightly worried that it might turn out to be him of all people in the world.

"you know 'vante'?" she asked, hand tightening around her cup in excitement and to say that taehyung was surprised would be the biggest understatement.

of course, out of all the artists in the world, it had to be me.

he was floored, confused, flattered, happy, but also increasingly embarrassed that she knew of his work. of course, she didn't know that it was him, clearly.

his heart was pounding, it took everything in him to not choke on his drink yet again, but he pulled himself together to play it cool.

"name sounds familiar, tell me more about him" taehyung tried to act clueless, and rumi frowned.

"no one knows if it's a he or she or they" she said with narrowed eyes, leaning back on her seat as taehyung gulped.

shit.

god, you're the biggest idiot in the world, taehyung scolded himself for the slip-up.

"oh i apologize then, what is their work like?" his tone was calm, steady, and bordering on unbothered even though on the inside, he was enduring a turmoil of emotions.

"we don't have to talk about it if you're not interested" she abashedly said, thinking that his calm tone indicated his lack of interest in the topic, as she fiddled with her fingers again and taehyung wanted to slap himself for sounding too uninterested.

"no no, i really do want to know" he quickly waved his hands around, trying to not seem like a jerk and there was an awkward pause before rumi cleared her throat and sat up straighter, taehyung squeezed her hand in his a little tighter to encourage her to continue so she did.
