flower boy is calling....

rumi felt her insides tingle slightly when she saw his name flash across her screen, already forgetting that his ex was in her office not even a minute ago, she hurried to answer the call, immediately putting the call on speaker and placing it in front of her.

"hello, rumi?" taehyung's voice came through, low and clear and rumi felt like a high schooler by how excited she felt.

"hey taehyung" she cooed and she heard some rustling from the call before it seemed silent again.

"i wanted to ask you something, is now a good time? i can call you back la- "and rumi desperately shook her head, then slapped her forehead realizing that he couldn't see her.

"no no now is perfect, what's up?" she could hear taehyung's small laugh and her cheeks heated up just as a wide grin spread on her face.

"i was wondering if you could come by the flower shop today? i have something for you" he sounded nervous and her interest was peaked.

"i don't mind, i get off work in an hour so i'll see you then" they bid their goodbyes and rumi relaxed back into her seat, a faint smile still gracing her features. she couldn't help but feel excited about whatever taehyung wanted to ask her.

please just ask me to be your girlfriend.

she already knew what her answer was going to be, but she still wondered in which way could he possibly ask her.

should i just say fuck it and ask him out myself?

that idea had also been looming over her head, it wasn't like he had to ask her out, hell rumi knew exactly how she wanted to ask him but she was also worried that she'd scare him off, but then again taehyung didn't seem like someone who would care about that.

there were just too many but's in her plan to actually consider putting it to action.

she carefully set aside her work folders, grimacing at the messy notes she wrote for aera's baby shower event, her mind was so all over the place when aera walked in, she was even more surprised that she remembered how aera looks considering she's only seen her twice and that too very briefly, maybe aera bothered her more than she thought she did. she sighed, deciding that she spent enough of her time thinking of the annoying woman, she finished up whichever work she had left and made her way to the flower shop.

when she arrived, she saw taehyung hunched over the counter, brushing his hair back and typing away on his phone with a blank expression, and even when he looked so simple, he shone so brightly, rumi would never get used to how gorgeous the man actually was and also how whipped she already seemed for him. she opened the door with a sheepish smile on her face, and taehyung immediately stopped typing and his face melted into a grin as he saw rumi walk up to the counter.

"so, what is it? what do you have for me?" rumi breathed out as she sat down in front of him and taehyung tilted his head in amusement.

"whatever happened to hello, how are you" he jokingly muttered while bending something to retrieve from beneath the counter.

"don't you think we're past formal greetings? i spend more time with you than celeste these days" she reasoned and taehyung hummed in agreement.

"fair enough" he said, standing up again and placing two tickets on the counter, rumi immediately snatched one to inspect it and taehyung laughed at her eagerness.

"city fair?" she looked up confused and his face beamed into a smile as he excitedly nodded.

"it happens twice a year, and i managed to snag some tickets last-minute, it has rides and we can eat those corndogs you like, there's a fireworks show at the end" taehyung rambled about the fair, and rumi's heart warmed, she felt really giddy that he remembered what her favorite was, she zoned out for a minute and only gave her attention back to taehyung when he snapped his fingers in front of her face.

"sorry, i zoned out" she mumbled, still looking at the tickets and taehyung bit his lip, wondering if she even liked the idea or not.

"what do you think? do you want to go with me?" he asked, big eyes filled with hope and rumi smiled.

i would go anywhere with you. was the cheesy line on tip of her tongue but of course, she wasn't actually going to say it.

"of course, taehyung, this sounds perfect" she cooed and a relieved smile made its way on taehyung's face.

"though i have to say, i hate rollercoasters, we are not getting on one." she half-warned and taehyung smirked, convinced that he was definitely getting her on one but he nodded.

"yeah sure, absolutely no rollercoasters" rumi narrowed her eyes at his tone which sounded more mocking than sincere but she let it slide, he was going to have quite literally drag her ass to a rollercoaster if he had any plans.

"i almost forgot, do you know where i can get fake lamprocapnos, i need it for a baby shower" rumi asked taehyung and he quirked his eyebrow at the mention of the rare flower.

"i mean, you're standing in a flower shop so you tell me" he teased her and she bit back her giggle at that.

"right, do you have any fake lamprocapnos, flower boy?" rumi said smoothly and he shook his head at the teasing hum when she said his nickname.

"first, can you stop calling me that? and second yes, but it's going to take a while to arrive" taehyung was done getting flustered every time she called him that and rumi laughed at his request.

"first, no can do. second, that's not a problem, the event is four months away."

"four months away? who is crazy enough to plan a baby shower this early?"

your ex.

"it's a tough client, i just want to be done with them as quickly as i can" she groaned out, conveniently leaving out the part that it is none other than park aera herself, rumi knew it would be a bad idea to mention that to taehyung, considering their bad history and present, she was only planning the event out of professional obligation and taehyung didn't necessarily need to know that.

"damn, good luck with them" taehyung patted her shoulder in reassurance and rumi almost snorted, she definitely needed that luck for aera.

"how is finding a new apartment with jimin? going well?" she asked, taehyung and jimin were planning to move to a bigger place with a studio room too.

she had no clue why, she just assumed that since jimin used to be a contemporary dancer, he needed that space to practice his hobby, but it was actually for taehyung and his ever-growing business as vante, ever since the news about his showcase at the museum got out, he's been getting a lot of commissions and he barely has time to finish them simultaneously finalizing pieces for the showcase, which is also why these three months weren't exactly eventful in their relationship, he knew they were both doing the bare minimum because of their work. so, when jimin suggested the city fair, he ran to get the tickets, not wanting to put such less effort into whatever they were.

"it's going, we have a couple of options for now, but none of them have a big enough studio."

"i'm sure you'll find one soon, if you ever want me to come apartment hunting with you, i'd be down for that."

"i'll probably need help, jimin is no help at all" rumi laughed at this, she always admired the bickering but understanding that taehyung and jimin had, it reminded her a lot of herself and celeste.

"you always paint him as the devil incarnate when he's actually a sweetheart."

"you say that because you haven't seen him do the chicken dance in the middle of the night" rumi burst into a fit of giggles, and taehyung himself had a broad grin adorning his face. they kept going back and forth like this, rumi arguing that jimin was an angel, and taehyung saying he'd beg to differ, arguing that celeste is actually the nice one and rumi snorting, because celeste and nice didn't belong in the same sentence, and just like many of their days together, it ended with happy tears brimming their eyes, flushed faces and a need to hold each other as tightly as they could.

filter flowers never looked more radiant with their love blooming in it.
