honsool never looked so crowded, a complete contradiction to the name, it's grunge theme with black and red accents everywhere were illuminated bright enough to see a person but dim enough to enjoy without worrying about who's watching, taehyung held tightly onto rumi's hands, while pushing through the crowd and she was so glad it was dark here, her face was flaming with warmth, celeste followed the two of them with a cheeky smile.
they found the boys who broke out into loud greetings when they saw rumi, formal introductions took place between celeste and the rest of them, the 6 of them already seemed pretty drunk and were laught at practically everything. taehyung sat among them and started talking to them while jimin made small talk with rumi and celeste.
"happy birthday" rumi wished namjoon who thanked her with a dimpled smile and then proceeded to tell her to get a drink at the bar. she took one last look at taehyung's bright smile which only seemed to show itself when he has was around them and with a small smile of her own, she and celeste made their way to the bar. the bar was much brighter than the rest of the club, probably to make it easier to order drinks and it was smack right in the middle of the entire space, rumi was quite impressed with the layout of the club, it catered perfectly for the customers.
the two best friends made themselves comfortable on the bar stools while waiting for their drinks when a very attractive woman who was most likely a foreigner approached celeste, she gave celeste a flirty smile and started using cheesy pick-up lines on celeste which seemed to work considering how celeste was a red, happy giggling mess. rumi smirked at the two before sipping her drink.
rumi looked around the club, taking in the aesthetic of it all, she would definitely recommend this place to her future clients, in this process, she noticed a few familiar faces but didn't want to bother greeting any of them, rumi was a social butterfly at times, but other times, she just preferred being in the presence of people she genuinely cared about. she then felt someone nudge her, she turned to see celeste holding the girl's hand now with an apologetic look on her face.
"have fun" rumi smiled and celeste gave her a grateful look before moving to the dance floor with the girl, she soon saw them dancing against each other to which she shook her head and returned her attention to her drink, proceeding to order another one.
she had to admit, as lively as the entire party was, it seemed like everyone was having fun except her, she couldn't help but think how pathetic she must look alone, dressed up, clearly very bored, her thoughts came to a halt when she realized that someone was sitting beside her now. she turned to see a rather attractive man, with the same drink as her's in his hand, and he was looking at her already.
"can i help you?" she asked, her tone coming out rather irritated, that wasn't her intention but she was annoyed, annoyed that she even agreed to come to this party only to be all alone.
"oh hi sorry, i shouldn't have stared, that was rude of me, allow me to apologize with a drink" he gave her a radiant smile and his voice which was deep and smooth, and it made her do a double-take, it was a complete contrast to his youthful looks.
"that's okay, i'm sorry if i came off rude too" she apologized with a sheepish smile which he waved away.
"my name's min ye jun, what about you?" he extended a hand for her to shake and she shook it with a small smile.
"lee rumi" and they both started talking about random topics.
from the corner of the room, taehyung's eye twitched a little, he couldn't exactly hear what the boys were talking, well shouting, about anymore, as he saw rumi laugh at what some dude beside her was saying. he watched rumi animatedly wave her hands around while saying something as the guy listened with utmost attention, he quickly turned his head around while cursing himself about staring at her like a weirdo.
he also cursed himself for being so invested with the boys that he completely forgot to entertain his own guest, especially rumi of all people, he was about to head to her when he saw her looking bored, but that was exactly when the dude struck a conversation with her so he stayed back to let them talk though, thinking it'd be rude to interrupt but he was definitely regretting it now. jimin nudged taehyung with his elbow.
"you look constipated, what's up?" jimin asked, half-jokingly and taehyung scoffed, not only at the ridiculous description of his expression but also because he didn't know what was up with him, he couldn't feel jealous, he and rumi were definitely not exclusive, she was free to talk to anybody she wanted to but it still irked him that another man was giving her his time while taehyung just sat, drinking average beer and watching them talk.
"i asked you something, what are you even looking at?" jimin's voice broke taehyung's annoying thoughts and he noticed how jimin's eyes followed his line of vision, to try and understand what was bothering him.
jimin smirked when he realized that his best friend was dealing with the green-eyed monster, jealousy. the most suffocating emotion, you shouldn't feel it especially if it's with someone you trust but you can't help but feel it, it's unreasonable, unnecessary, petty even but we're also human, we do want someone's favor, we want, no need, attention, so jealousy, as ugly of an emotion that it was, everyone feels it at some point.
"are you just gonna sit here and stare at them or actually go and do something?" jungkook piped in, making it clear that he's been hearing the entire conversation from the start. this statement had taehyung on his feet, ready to go and spend some quality time with rumi, he ignored the loud and obnoxious cheers of jimin and jungkook and slowly pushed through the crowd to get to the bar.
"oh my god kim taehyung!" he heard the voice of someone who he wished, begged to never see again, his footsteps paused just as he was getting closer to the bar, he was about to pretend like he didn't hear anything and continue on his merry way but a hand (with incredibly sharp nails) grasped his wrist, forcing him to turn around. he didn't notice that rumi had turned around to look at the loud announcement of his name too.
park aera. his ex-girlfriend.
taehyung sucked in a breath as he saw his ex who he didn't hate, but he wasn't exactly fond of her, as she was clinging onto his arm like a koala does to a branch.
"it's been so long" aera exhaled with a bright smile, one that used to blind taehyung enough to not see what kind of a person she really was.
"hey aera, what brings you here?" he strained out, mentally kicking the person who invited her. rumi watched this exchange while trying to pay attention to ye jun, she hummed in reply to whatever he said while glancing back to see taehyung and the mystery girl look awfully comfortable with each other.
jealousy. she knew she shouldn't feel it but just like taehyung, she couldn't help it.
thankfully, ye jun didn't seem to notice and kept rambling on.
"oh, just a plus one for one of my friends, how have you been? i missed you so much" if anyone could sense a fake person, it was usually taehyung but he never understood what went wrong with his 'fake person detector' when he was dating aera. he tried to get her grip off his arm but she only tightened it.
"come on taetae, i'm telling that i've missed you and you're trying to get away" her face broke into a pout which taehyung couldn't believe he used to coo at.
taehyung kept peeking at rumi to make sure she wasn't seeing any of this so that she wouldn't get the wrong idea and rumi did a good job at turning around right when taehyung would look at her.
unlike ye jun, aera seemed to notice that taehyung was distracted by something or someone else and she felt disappointed and angry that his attention was not on her, so she did what she always does best, which was ruining things.
in one swift move, she pulled taehyung's collar and tugged him closer, and before taehyung could move,
she kissed him.
and rumi definitely saw that.
