The Slytherin Queen- A Draco x Oc Love Story

Chapter 13 Petrified

"What is going on here?" Professor McGonagall said accompanied by Professor Snape.

"Oh my goodness." Professor Dumbledore said while arriving onto the scene.

There hung Eve on a torch attached to the wall. A tinted window was on one side of the snake (how she got petrified sorry I couldn't think of anything else) and on the other was a message written in blood. It said:

'No one is safe here'

"Everyone back to your house!" Dumbledore announced. Everyone left except the teachers, Stephanie, and Draco.

"W-Why.. why her!? She didn't do anything! I didn't do anything! We don't deserve this..." Stephanie said while hugging Draco tightly.

"It's ok Steph.. Madam Pomfrey can help her. She will be ok." Draco said while rubbing her back. Madam Pomfrey took Eve to the Hospital Wing.

"She will be fine Stephanie. Eve is in good hands." Snape told her.

"I know how it feels Stephanie, when it happened to Mrs. Norris I was heartbroken. They'll be fine. They'll come back in a few weeks." Mr. Filch said. He understood what she felt since the same thing happened to him a few weeks before.

"You should go back to the common room now." Professor McGonagall said. Stephanie and Draco left and went to the Slytherin common room. Draco pushed everyone away who was trying to talk to Stephanie. Draco and Stephanie went into Stephanie's dorm, Daphne followed after them. She locked the door and sat next to Stephanie on her bed.

"I'm so sorry Steph... I know how much she meant to you. She will get better. She's not dead Steph.."

"I know but she didn't deserve this! Eve is one of my best friends I just I- I can't lose her. It may seem pathetic that I'm crying about a snake, but she's more than a snake you know?" She continued sobbing. Draco and Daphne tried to comfort her as much as possible, but it was no use. Stephanie ended up crying herself to sleep.

The next morning Stephanie got ready for the day. She felt lonely without Eve around her neck. She headed to the hospital wing to visit Eve. She grabbed a stool and sat next to where Eve was. She began talking in Parseltongue to her. Little did she know, Harry, Ron, and Hermione were spying on her. Harry was translating what Stephanie said to them.

"I'm so sorry Eve.. I should've kept a better eye on you. You didn't deserve this. Whoever or whatever did this I'll kill them! I can't lose you Eve. You're my best friend I love you so much Eve. I must look so pathetic right now, talking to a snake who can't hear me. I don't care though. I'll stay by your side from now on." Stephanie said in Parseltongue.

"I don't think she's the Heir of Slytherin." Harry whispered to Hermione and Ron.

"She could be tricking us so we won't think that she's the heir." Hermione whispered back.

"She doesn't know we're here. I don't think she would say that if she didn't know we were here." Ron whispered.

"True.."

"Well if Snape and Malfoy aren't the heir then who is?"

For days Stephanie barely ate, drank, or slept. She spent most of her days by Eve. She blamed herself for this mess, the reason Eve was petrified. Draco and Daphne visited Stephanie at the hospital wing one day.

"Steph you need to eat.. this isn't healthy. I get it you care about her but we care about your health too. You need to eat something!" Daphne said full of worry.

"Yeah come on Stephanie.. please." Draco said. He grabbed Stephanie and dragged her into the Great Hall. Everyone stared as the ill looking girl entered. The three sat down.

"Look Stephanie.. pancakes with strawberries! You're favorite!" Draco said trying to cheer her up.

"I used to feed Eve some of the strawberries on my pancakes..."

"Listen up Snape! Clearly Draco is worried about you and so is everyone in Slytherin. You need to get your act together! Without the 'Slytherin Princess' our house will fall a part! It's just a stupid snake! Even though I hate you, we desperately need you! Draco needs you! So stop acting like this!" Pansy screamed at her. Stephanie looked at her and got up. She pinned her against the wall.

"Eve is not some stupid snake. She's one of my best friends I-"

"We get it already!" Pansy interrupted.

"Don't interrupt me you pig!" She pinned her harder, hurting Pansy. "I'm not some 'Slytherin Princess' everyone expects me to be. I have feelings too you know. I know I have to stop with this and I will eventually but right now I just can't.. I know you care about our house Parkinson but I just can't." Stephanie's voice cracked at the end of her last sentence. She let go of Pansy and stormed out of the hall. She went to her dorm and laid on her bed. Stephanie fell asleep right away from the lack of energy.
