Chapter 51 End of Year 5

Stephanie's fifth year has finally come to an end. The Weasley twins ended their year with a bang, literally. They set a firework show in the Great Hall during the OWL exams. It was amazing! Umbridge's rein has ended. The ministry announced Voldemort's return and now there's trouble.

"You ready Daph?" Stephanie said with her bags in her hands.

"Yeah.. I'll see you over the summer?"

"Mhm. Visit me and you can come swim in our lake."

"I'll look forward to it. Let's go meet with everyone else."

"Ok." The two went down to the common room and greeted their friends.

"I'll take your bags Steph." Draco said.

"Aww thank you." He took them from her.

"I'll meet you all at the train. I have to talk to Layla."

"Ok have fun." Stephanie left the common room and searched for Layla. She eventually found her wandering around in the halls.

"Layla.."

"What do you want now? Want to embarrass me again? You're such a hypocrite you know. You tell me not to snog Michael in public when you did it with Draco in the library!" Stephanie's eyes widened. "I was there Steph! I'm not oblivious! You make my life a living hell and I can't stand you anymore! I can't do anything without your permission!"

"I'm just trying to look out for you.."

"I don't care! I'm not a little girl anymore! I don't need your help! I hate you!"

"I hate you! You're an ungrateful, spoiled brat! I would be grateful if I were in your shoes! I wish you were dead." Layla looked at Stephanie in fear and shock. Her eyes became watery. She ran off. "L-Layla! Wait.. I didn't mean that." Stephanie decided to go to the train, in hopes to find Layla after the encounter with her. She boarded the train and looked for the girl. No luck. She gave up and sat with her friends.

"How was it?" Pansy asked. Stephanie broke down crying.

"I said something that I didn't mean to say to her.. and now I can't even apologize because I can't find her! And she's going to Australia!"

"What did you say? What happened?"

"We were arguing. She said she hated that I was helping her and said it was embarrassing. I told her she was ungrateful and.. I told her that I wished she was dead. I don't mean that! I want to apologize but she ran off.."

"Oh my Merlin Steph.."

"You can always owl her."

"True.. I'll owl her once I get home.. I'm gonna check for her again."

"I'll come with you Steph." Draco said. The two exited the compartment and looked for Layla. They finally get to a compartment that held a crying girl and a boy comforting her. The two Slytherins entered the compartment.

"Layla I'm so sorr-"

"NO! Save your apology! I don't want to hear it! I hate your guts! Stephanie Snape you are dead to me! I never want to see you again! Now get out!" Layla shoved the two out of the compartment.

"Steph.."

"I-I... I just need some time alone right now. Draco go back to the compartment."

"Steph-"

"Please."

"Ok.." Draco headed back to the compartment while Stephanie went inside an empty one. She pulled the curtains down and put Eve on the seat. However, Stephanie didn't sit down. Instead she fell to the floor, breaking down in tears.

"Ssssstephanie.."

"It's all my fault Eve! I should've just left her alone. I hate myself! She hates me..." Stephanie was laying on the floor with a tear stained face. She cried herself to sleep. She was woken by a person shaking her. It was Draco.

"Stephanie.. the train stopped. Come on." She got up and put Eve around her neck. She went back to her group with Draco. No one said anything to her. Draco filled everyone in on what happened and decided to not bother her about the manner. They got off the train with their bags and tried to find their family.

"Goodbye Steph. I'll visit you in the summer alright?"

"Yeah. You're all welcome to come over." Stephanie said goodbye to her friends and went to her father. The two apparated to the Loveheart manor. Stephanie went to her room and unpacked. She set Eve on her dresser.

"Don't you dare have another breakdown."

"I'm not.. I'm just gonna play piano for a while."

"Ok." Stephanie went to the ballroom and sat down. She looked at the shiny piano. She grazed the keys of the instrument with her fingers. Stephanie began playing a song. A rather sad song. From the corner of her eye she saw a dark, tall figure. She stopped playing and turned her attention towards the figure.

"What happened with you and Layla?" Snape said.

"I was just trying to help her.. She said that I was embarrassing her and that she hated me. I told her that I wish she were dead. I don't mean that and I tried to apologize but she said that I was dead to her.. She hates me father.."

"Stephanie.. I'm very sorry, but you have to remember that she's a teenager and they're moody." Stephanie let out a chuckle. "She's changing you know. She's growing up. Maybe she just needs space. In three months she'll probably be all happy and cheery and you two will make up."

"Thank you father."

"No problem. Also I'm now going to be teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts."

"Really!? Oh my Merlin! Congratulations father! You finally got it! Wait who's going to be teaching potions then?"

"A man named Horace Slughorn. I think he's Dumbledore's friend."

"Ok. Well that's wonderful but now I can't go to the potions classroom freely."

"What do you mean?"

"I have to ask the new professor to practice potions now."

"Oh, sorry about that."

"It's fine. I hope he'll let me practice. I'm gonna go back upstairs now."

"Ok. Dinner will be at six."

"Thank you father."
