Chapter 30 The Egg

Stephanie was sitting in a tree watching people pass. She looked at all the girls that were near her. When she looked at them, she didn't feel like how she felt with Luna. She figured out that she does have a crush on Luna and she hated it. What will people think of her? What will her father think of her? What will Luna think of her? What will Draco think? Stephanie jumped down from the tree with a golden egg in her hand. She was still trying to figure out how to solve it. She decided to go to the black lake to think in peace. She sat under a tree and fiddled with the egg.

"Hello Stephanie." A calm, soothing voice said. Stephanie looked up and saw Luna. She had a bright smile on her face.

"Luna.. hey. Sit down." She sat next to Stephanie.

"Are you trying to figure out how to solve the egg?" Stephanie nodded. "Maybe you have to put it in a certain spot?"

"Like where?"

"I'm not sure.. it could be a dark place maybe. Or you can try putting it in water. Maybe the moonlight has to hit it."

"You think of many weird possibilities.. I guess I'll try the water one since we're here." Stephanie took off her shoes and socks and went into the water, knee deep. She submerged the egg in water and opened it. It was quiet. She took it out and closed it.

"Maybe you have to go under water."

"You better have a towel ready for me. The water's freezing."

"You can have my jacket." Stephanie took off her clothes, leaving her in her bra and underwear. Luna blushed at her, Stephanie thought her face was red from the cold. Luckily there was no one around due to the weather. It was very cold, so everyone was in the warm castle. Stephanie went underwater and opened the egg. Instead of the loud noise she heard a pleasant sound.

"Come seek us where our voices sound.

We cannot sing above the ground. An

hour long you'll have to look, to recover

what we took." Stephanie came out of the water, gasping for air.

"Well?"

"I figured it out." Stephanie sat next to Luna and put her coat on. "The black lake. That's where the next task is." Stephanie repeated what the egg told her. "I'm guessing we have an hour to look for something they stole from us in the black lake. The question is what will they take?"

"Hmm.. it must be something special. Maybe something that matters to the person a lot. What matters to you a lot?"

"My friends, my father, Eve, Draco, you.."

"I matter to you? We've known each other for a few days and I'm important to you?" Luna smiled.

"Yeah.. I don't know why though. You just mean a lot to me. You bring out a side of me that I never knew I had." Stephanie was shivering from the cold wind hitting her body.

"Here.." Luna hugged her to keep her warm.

"Thank you. I should put my clothes on even though I'm soaking wet." She changed back into her clothes and sat down.

"Are you still cold?"

"Kind of.." Luna and Stephanie were very close to each other. Not knowing what they were doing, the two leaned in and shared a warm, soft kiss. Stephanie put her cold hand on Luna's hot cheek. Luna tangled her fingers into Stephanie's hair. Stephanie pulled away for air. The two were panting and had red faces.

"I like you Stephanie.. since the first day I saw you at the sorting ceremony. I was scared of what you would think of me. I thought you were going to make fun of me like the other Slytherins but you didn't. Instead you became my friend. I don't want to lose my friendship with you, so if you don't share the same feelings as me then can we still be friends and forget about this?"

"Luna I.. I like you too but.. I like you and Draco. I don't know what to do. I'm sorry.."

"It's ok Steph.. I'll wait as long it takes to be with you. And if you choose to be with him I'll be happy for you."

"Thank you Luna. I appreciate it." Stephanie got off the ground. "It's getting cold. Wanna go back inside?"

"Sure." Stephanie helped Luna up and they headed to the castle.

It was now night time. Stephanie was in the astronomy tower, looking at the stars.

"What are you doing out so late Stephanie?" Snape said behind her.

"I'm just star gazing father."

"You do that when you're anxious. What's wrong? Is it the tournament? I'm sorry that you have to compete."

"It's fine. It's the tournament and something else.."

"What is it?" Stephanie turned around to look at her father. There were tears streaming down her face.

"Father.. I'm bisexual.. I kissed her... I kissed Luna Lovegood. I like her and Draco, but I don't know what to do.." Stephanie started sobbing. Immediately Snape hugged her, trying to comfort her.

"It's ok Stephanie. I'll love you no matter what. However, you have to choose between them eventually."

"I know father."

"Thank you for telling me this. Usually it's hard for people to come out, especially to their parents. Does anyone else know about this?"

"Luna and Daphne. I don't want to tell anyone else yet."

"Ok.. do you want to talk about how it happened?" Stephanie nodded.

"Yes I need to talk about this to someone. So I was at the black late trying to solve the egg. Luna came and she helped me figure it out. Turns out you have to submerge the egg underwater. The task is to retrieve something from the black lake. When I got out of the lake.. me and Luna kissed. She confessed to me about her feelings. She knows I like her and Draco and said she would wait for me as long as it will take...what do I do?"

"....I can't make that decision for you. You have to do it yourself. I'm very sorry. Now I suggest you head to bed. It's getting late."

"Thank you father." She gave him a quick hug and left the astronomy tower with a tear stained face.
