Chapter 31 Do You Have A Date?

"The yule ball has been a tradition of the tri-wizard tournament since its inception. On Christmas eve night we and our guests gather in the great hall for well mannered frivolity. As representitives of the host school I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward, and I mean this literally because the yule ball is... a dance." There were a bunch of groans from the boys.

"Silence! The House of Salazar Slytherin will not have its name be tarnished. You will show respect and will not fool around, acting like a bunch of idiots." Snape said. "Stephanie, Draco. Come forth and show everyone how to dance properly." The two came forward and stood awkwardly in the middle of the room. "The boy's right hand goes on the lady's waist while the other hand is holding the lady's hand. The lady's other hand goes around the gentleman's neck."

The two got into position and Snape turned on some music. They both started to dance. They stared into each other's eyes, ignoring everyone's stares. Draco smiled at her, she smiled back. Stephanie felt guilty about the other day with Luna. She was scared of what he would do and how he'll act.

"Everyone grab a partner now and dance." Everyone starts pairing up with each other.

"You ok Steph?"

"Huh? Yeah I'm fine.."

"You seem a bit nervous. Is it because of the tournament?" Stephanie nodded. She didn't want him to find about her relationship with Luna yet. "You'll be fine Stephanie. Stop worrying about it. Just focus on the ball."

Stephanie and Daphne were sitting on a wall ledge in the courtyard, talking about Theodore Nott taking Daphne to the Yule Ball, when someone came up to them.

"Snape, would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?" A random Gryffindor said.

"I'm sorry, but no thank you." The Gryffindor walked away, sulking.

"That's like the fifth one today Steph. Damn."

"In total I've been asked 37 times. I'm waiting for someone special to ask me though."

"Draco or Luna?" Daphne whispered into her ear.

"Draco. Luna said if he doesn't ask I can go with her." She whispered back.

"Oh. Well he sure is taking a long time."

"Mhm.. what if he doesn't ask me?"

"He will!"

"Yeah right!" Someone approached the two. It was Viktor Krum.

"Ms. Snape can I talk to you for a moment?" Stephanie looked at Daphne who was smiling widely.

"Yeah, sure.." Stephanie got up and walked with Krum to a more secluded area in the courtyard. Daphne was watching the two of them the whole time.

"I was wondering if you would like to accompany me to the Yule Ball?"

"I would love to but I can't. I'm sorry but I'm waiting for a certain someone to ask me.. I admire you and I would've said yes right away if it wasn't for him. I'm really sorry."

"Is it that blonde boy you hang out with?" She nodded. "I see the way that you look at him and I completely understand. I hope he asks you."

"Thank you for understanding Krum.. if you're looking for a date then may I recommend someone?"

"Sure who is it?"

"This girl named Hermione Granger. She's probably in the library. She has big brown hair and she's a Gryffindor. She'll end up dateless if you don't ask her and I don't want to see her upset.."

"Ok thank you Snape." He headed off to the library. Stephanie sighed. Why would she give her idol off to her enemy, she doesn't know. Maybe she has a soft spot for Hermione and kind of feels bad for her. She doesn't know exactly. Stephanie went back to Daphne.

"He better ask me soon because I just turned down Viktor Krum for him."

"Hey ladies." Blaise said interrupting the two.

"Hey Blaise."

"It's almost 4 I have to go study with Theo!"

"Yeah 'study'!" Blaise said.

"Bye Daph."

"See you guys later!"

Stephanie walked with Blaise to the common room.

"So who are you taking to the Yule Ball?"

"This girl from Hufflepuff. You?"

"Waiting for Draco."

"He's taking forever."

"I know. I turned all of these people down and the ball is like a few days away!"

They opened the door to the common room and see a squealing Pansy.

"Yes Draco! I will go to the Yule Ball with you!" She hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek. She saw Stephanie and Blaise enter the common room. "Draco asked me to the ball!"

"Congrats Parkinson."

"You're not mad?"

"As long as Draco's happy then I'm happy. Oh.. I forgot my scarf. I'll be right back." She left the common room and ran, Blaise chasing after her. She went into an empty hallway and sat down, leaning against the wall, she sobbed.

"Stephanie.." Blaise sat next to her. "I'm so sorry. He's a jerk!"

"I turned down a lot of people for that idiot! I turned down Viktor Krum! The Viktor Krum! I can't believe him.."

"I'm sorry.." Blaise hugged her and rubbed her back.

"Stephanie?" Luna spotted the two and went to them.

"Get lost Looney Lovegood!" Blaise yelled.

"Blaise it's ok.. she's my friend and she's not crazy! She's unique.."

"I'm sorry Lovegood. A friend of Stephanie's is a friend of mine. Blaise Zabini."

"Nice to meet you Blaise. Luna Lovegood. Now what's wrong Stephanie?"

"Draco took Pansy.. my enemy!" Luna hugged her.

"I'm sorry.."

"Blaise can I tell you something?"

"Of course."

"I'm bisexual.."

"Steph.." He hugged her tightly. Stephanie hugged back. "That's wonderful Steph. I'm proud of you for coming out to me. Does Draco know?" She shook her head. "Only you, my father, Daphne, and Luna. Speaking of Luna.. do you want to go to the Yule Ball with me?"

"Of course Stephanie." She smiled and hugged her, Stephanie hugged back.

"Congratulations you two." Blaise said.

"Thank you Blaise."

"I'll leave you guys alone now." He walked away from the two.

"Luna.. what will people think of us?"

"I'm not sure. I think a lot of people will hate us together, since many people like you. Others will definitely be shocked. Hopefully they'll accept us."

"I hope so. Who's lifting who now when we dance?" Stephanie joked. Luna laughed.

"I'm not sure. Instead do you just want me to twirl you?"

"If you want. I mean I can twirl you if you want."

"We'll figure it out later. We can practice the day before. Wanna have lunch with me?"

"Sure."
