In 1991, I released my album 'Live Your Life Be Free'. One of my songs was 'I Plead Insanity' which I wrote to describe how crazy I am about my Jesse (let me assure you, however, that my song 'You're Nothing Without Me' is NOT about my Jesse at all, it's just something I decided to sing from a woman's perspective).
The music video for the song 'Live Your Life Be Free' was so much fun to film. It was filmed on Crissy Field shortly before Michelle's graduation, and then for the last chorus, it showed me, Jesse, the Tanners, our baby girl, Joey and Therese, Vasilios and Anastacia and so many other loved ones, dancing along with me on Crissy Field in front of the bright Golden Gate Bridge as well as singing my song with me. We had a ball! Needless to say, Jesse and I made love that night!
Not long after, the date for Michelle's preschool graduation! We were so excited to go, Michelle was growing up right before our eyes!
There was an album launch party for me, but I didn't go because I was not going to miss this for the world! So I had it postponed.
We stayed the night at the Tanner home as did the Gladstones, in preparation for Michelle's graduation.
"Omigosh Ophelia, these waffles are amazing as always!" Said Pam. "They're crispy, yet soft and fluffy in the middle."
"I'm glad you like them." I replied. "I like them best as a dessert with Belgian chocolate."
"I'm sure gonna try that! I'm a chocolate lover myself!" Said Pam.
So, Jesse and I decided it was time to teach Michelle our taste in music, and yes, that meant Elvis and ABBA. Even Michelle's teacher wanted us to teach the kids some groovy songs. So we did!
We decided to do a medley where I taught the children "Super Trouper" by ABBA, and Jesse taught "Blue Suede Shoes" by Elvis. I sang along with the children onstage as they sang "Super Trouper" with me. It was so wonderful to be singing ABBA with Michelle! I had done with DJ, Stephanie and now with Michelle!
Afterwards, we had a graduation party with the family. Of course, my made my Greek biscuits for the occasion. Michelle loved her cookies!
She was growing up so fast! I remember when she was born, Jesse and I went to see her once at the hospital. We gave her a little wave, and we thought we saw her smile! We were pretty sure she was giving us a little greeting.
I still can't get over what a cute baby she was. Jesse and I were always cuddling and playing with her, and now she was 4 years old and was growing more and more beautifully!
After the music part of the show, Jesse and I returned to our seats, as we watched the kids get their certificates. We clapped and cheered a little extra when the teacher called Michelle's name, shook her hand and handed her the certificate.
At the same time, DJ was graduating Jr High and because both she and Michelle had commencement ceremonies, Stephanie felt left out that she wasn't having one (she was finishing the 3rd grade, moving onto the 4th).
"Why don't I get a graduation?" Said Stephanie.
"Steph, you will. You're just going from 3rd grade to 4th grade." Said Danny.
"Just? It so happens that I'm going from lower elementary into upper elementary. I'll be playing on a completely different playground, with no monkey bars. This is a very big deal. And nobody cares. How rude!" She said.
We really felt for her, so her parents, along with Jesse and myself, gave her a little commencement of her own.
Danny and Pam hummed the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance" while Jesse and I put a cap and gown on her.
"Stephanie Judith Tanner, this is your graduation ceremony!" Said Joey.
"And here is your certificate. Congratulations!" Said Therese.
"It's a dream come true!" Exclaimed Stephanie with happy tears in her eyes. "Thank you all so much!" And she gave us all a big hug.
We stayed a while after dinner, and it was after 8 when Jesse and I decided we should get going, so we said our goodbyes to the Tanners. We couldn't help but think of our Frida on the way home. She was already growing up so fast before our eyes! She was already walking, dancing, had gorgeous hair, no doubt great genes from Jesse and myself! She also seemed to love ABBA as much as I do! When she was a baby I'd often play her their song "Me & Bobby & Bobby's Brother", a song from their debut album, because it sounded very childlike. She seemed to have fallen in love at first listen - and no kidding because ABBA are the best!
Jesse tried to do the same thing with Elvis, and though she responded well to his music as well, I get the impression she likes ABBA a liiiiiiiittle more, haha! Not that we're competing, we both want the same things for her, including having a good taste in music.
After I put our baby in her crib, I softly turned on "Like An Angel Passing Through My Room", as it was one of the ABBA songs that soothed her to sleep.
"Night night, baby." I whispered, before going to our room.
"You looked beautiful up there." Said Jesse. "But then you always are."
He kissed me tenderly, and soon our clothes came off and we made love. The perfect ending to a wonderful day.
