I woke up at about 10:50 the next morning to a soft blanket covering me, a pillow under my head and a piece of paper next to my head. My grandma's curly hand writing had written a long note.

Popped to the shops for a bit, hope you don't mind. There's plenty of food in the kitchen if you want to make yourself some breakfast. There is also raspberries in the fridge. Feel free to help yourself to as many as you want, I know they're your favourite.

I shouldn't be out to long, I just need to pick up a few things. I don't know what happened yesterday that made you drive all the way down here but if you want to talk to me when I get back then I promise I will listen and try to comfort you the best I can.

See you when I get back,

Love Grandma xxx

I sniffed, rubbed my eyes and sat up on the sofa causing the blanket to fall off my chest and onto my lap. I slowly stood up and wrapped the blanket around me like I did when I was 7. I made my way to my grandma's small kitchen with the blanket still wrapped tightly around me.

On the side in the kitchen my grandma had lined up bread, waffles, pancakes, bagels, tea bags, coffee, hot chocolate powder, orange juice, a box of 6 eggs, cornflakes, cocoa pops, frosties and a range of different sizes of plates, bowls, cups, mugs and even tea cups. Her kitchen wasn't big so the counter top was almost fully covered with all different breakfast things. A small smile peeked through my pain and I loved that even though my grandma had said she didn't know what was wrong she had still tried her absolute hardest to make me feel better.

"I'm back Lily."

My grandma's voice rang through the house and I paused what I had been watching on the TV. I put my cup of tea down and walked to the front door to see if she needed help with her shopping.

She was stumbling threw the door with what looked like thousands of carrier bags. Most of them were from clothes shops and beauty shops which made me smile.

"Hello darling. Do you think you could help me quickly?" she asked when she spotted me. I nodded and took about half the bags from her and took them into her room. I put them onto her double bed with an grunt coming out my mouth because they were pretty heavy. I made my way back to the living room and collected my dirty plate from my breakfast.

"I got this for you," my grandma said as I entered the kitchen and placed my plate into the sink. She held a bag out to me but it wasn't a 10p one like all the others. Instead it was a gift bag like the ones you get presents in on your birthday.

I opened it. Inside was 4 large bars of chocolate, 2 lush bath bombs, a pack of tissues, a candle, 3 face masks and a small teddy. I smiled and looked up at her.

"Grandma you shouldn't have, I'm fine really," I lied to her.

"Now, if you were fine, you wouldn't have gone on a drive that's nearly 5 hours long on a Saturday night just to see your boring old grandmother would you," she said and put her hand on her hip.

"Sure I would. Maybe I just wanted to see you," I lied again this time forcing a smile.

"Lily, give up. I know he's broken you."

My smile dropped and I felt myself go weak. She didn't even say his name but I knew who she meant and so did she.

"How...I didn't tell you though. And you said you didn't know," I stuttered.

"I've been alive for 79 years, I've witnessed and been through many break ups and heart breaks. You really thought I didn't know. As soon as I saw you at my door last night I knew," she said.

I felt my eyes about to turn to a waterfall and my stomach suddenly dropped to my feet. The bag of goodies from my grandma fell out my hand and hit the floor.

She pulled me in for a hug and I sobbed into her shoulder. She stroked my hair and whispered comforting words to me. I didn't hear half of them because I was crying so much.

"I loved him, I still love him," I managed to choke out in between sobs.

"I know Lily, I know you do. I'm so sorry my darling," she said softly.

I didn't know what I was going to do. I didn't know how long I was going to stay with my grandma. The only thing I was sure of was that I wanted to forgive Niall but I just didn't think I could.
