Once realizing that the death of Jenna was a declaration of war, Edison finally broke down and decided to Emma and Abel. We were all sitting around the same table that we had strategized at the night before as Eddie dialed their number and placed the phone on speaker, setting it in the middle of the table.
The shrill sound of the ringer sang through the phones speaker, until Emma answered. "Hey baby brother." She answered the phone.
"Hey Emmerson," Eddie spoke back, not returning the same cheerfulness that our sisters words did.
"What's wrong?" Her cheeriness instantly turning to the tone of a worried sister wanting to protect her brother. Emma was a force to be reckoned with when she thought someone she loved was in trouble.
He took a deep breath, "Listen, I am here with Eli, Mom, and Dad. I need your help. " I knew that this was incredibly hard for him to do, it was difficult for any Alpha to have to do this whether they were asking it of family or not. "Do you think you could get Abel too?"
"Yeah," she responded. "Give me a couple of minutes." Emma had pulled the phone from her ear, the rustling and background noise around her easily coming through the speakers. There was a couple of minutes of griping and bickering between the two sounded through the phone before she spoke to us again, "Alright, you are on speaker Eddie, what's going on?"
"First off I want you to know I would not be calling and asking this if I had any other options." Eddie paused looking to the rest of us, "I know you already have a lot going on on yourselves." Using my hand, I motioned for him to hurry up and get out what he needed to, time was of the essence and any we could not afford to waste any of it.
"Eddie," Abel's strong voice came through the speaker. "You know that we are here for anything that you need."
Apparently, his words were the only thing that Eddie needed to finally break the dam, so to speak. For the next twenty minutes or so we all worked together to fill Abel and Emma in on what was happening, even the mysterious disappearance of several of the Rogue camps.
Abel and Emma threw out a few questions here and there, trying to garner the full picture and scope of what was going on. "I will gather what I can for warriors, but unfortunately I hope we can do without scouts. I have them out on a mission right now. "
I spoke up, "Why are you sending scouts out?" I was curious, that was not something that was usually done, typically just the network of packs would find anything or anyone that one may be looking for.
There was a slight whine that came across the line, I could tell it was Abel since I knew my sister's all too well. "Just some pack issues, nothing we can not deal with." Emma jumped in, covering Abel's distressed whine. We all could tell she was hiding something, her wavering voice giving her away, but now was not the time to press any harder.
"Hold on a sec." The speaker became scratchy, no doubt from Emma placing her hand over the receiver. We all heard the muffled and hushed conversation between her and Abel.
"Yesss." Emma hissed, "Call them back."
"I can not." Abel stressed.
"We will send them back out later."
