As the sound of the window splintering into a million small shards assaulted my ears, I finally realized what she had said and done. I played her words back through my head as I rushed to the window, fearful of the mangled mess I would find beneath, "" I am truly sorry, but I am not what you want nor what you need. I will bring only destruction to you and your pack. I cannot be a Luna, if you knew me you would understand. "

"That's all we wanted was to get to know you." Kol growled out to me in frustration.

Looking out I was completely astounded at the sight before me, as was everyone else based on the gasps of breath and sounds of amazement they were all making. There she was My Mate, My Luna flying through the air, shifting so smoothly and fluidly that you would miss it if you blinked. Her black coat covering her body effortlessly as her borrowed clothing shredded falling through the air like confetti.

She landed on the soft grass gracefully and without a second glance back dug her hind legs into the ground, racing towards the forest. Watching her run from me, felt like I heart ripping from my chest, was I that undesirable that my own mate felt the need to run from me? Reject me?

Falling to my knees I released a soul shattering howl that had all the wolves, dropping and howling with me. Eddie may be the Alpha of this pack, but I too had grown up here, everyone around me feeling the same piercing pain that I was. To see that she could leave without a backward glance was probably the most heartbreaking thing out of the entire situation.

"Go after her! Get mate! " Kol growled, the hurt and pain he felt washing through me like a tidal wave. Getting up on my feet I ran down the stair and out the front door, catching the last glimpses of my mate as she vanished into the trees.

Not bothering to take off my clothes I shifted in the yard, determined to catch her, find her. I ran for hours, tracking her, following the sweet and allure scent of sweet grass and moonflower, I ran in circles until my father stopped me. **Come back to the house, son.**

**I can't Dad. I need to find her.** How was it that she could just leave, vanish? And how was I not able to track her, my own mate?

**It is almost midnight, Eli. You need to come sleep, we have trackers out. She couldn't have gotten far. They will tell us if they find anything.**

My father was right, I was not doing myself any favors by chasing her like this. There were obvious reasons why she did what she did, so it was going to be best to handle this with a fresh set of eyes in the morning. Back at the pack house, I stumbled through the door wearing a pair of ill-fitting sweats that were in the community clothing bin, but it didn't matter much to me. Sleep was quickly over taking my body, every cell in me screaming for sleep after the past twenty-four hours.

Ignoring everyone as I stumbled through the house to my room, I fell into my bed my face landing in the pillow her head had last laid upon. The faintest remnants of her scent remained, giving me only marginal relief as I fell into a heavy sleep.

Sounds coming from the family area of the house pulled me from my sleep. I rolled over groaning as my muscles stretched, sore from the hours of running. Sitting up I rolled my neck in an attempt to release the knots that had settled getting a momentary reprieve from the thought of my mates rejection. Briefly I closed my eyes, willing relaxation to overtake me, as I did so I could almost see her standing there staring at me beckoning me towards her.
