In an alternate Lunthoria, the town and the landscape differed from that of Lukes. Night had fallen, and the lush farmlands and roads were strewn in torn clothes and overturned carts. Three yellow moons looked bigger than normal and each had a bewitching shimmer. They lit up even the darkest of alleys within the town, with the help of street lamps. Yet no matter where the light touched, not one civilian remained in the town, the roads, the houses, or the distant small portside town of Sewen.
Broken stalls surrounded the plaza and the main road into the town and all items or wares had long since despawned. Windows remained broken, and some houses were bathed in the light of the fire that threatened to consume their very foundations. From an outsider's perspective, a small scale war had come to Lunthoria when all that had happened is the arrival of Nate.
Sat atop an overturned cart with one leg up and the other dangling Nate sighed. He had thought to have gotten a little more fun out of the town. Dressed in a black cloak that covered his shoulders and wrapped around to the front, he gave Bones a little pat on the head as he rested on his shoulder. It had been an hour since Nate entered the town and the entire island had been decimated.
Like Luke, Nate also first came into contact with the young woman named Erina. No sooner than he stepped onto the road with scythe drawn, she bolted towards him in a mad dash. Nate didn't listen to a word she said as he swung his scythe into the air and brought it down on the helpless quest giver. With no exp rewarded Nate, with pursed lip found it to be quite aggravating, but there were other ways.
Civilians began to flee in panic and fear as players in the area were wondering what was happening around them. Nate raised Erinaand turned her into a blue flesh zombie. Slobbering drool over the road, she had broken bones, a hunched back, and less hair. Her appetite for destruction was set loose by Nate as he ordered her to attack anything that moved. She pounced at other civilians infecting them and thus, starting a chain reaction that would engulf the tiny island.
Players trapped within the town at the time of this ground zero event had no idea what was happening until it became too late. Some managed to flee to Sewen and get out via the boats. Others met a most grisly end and a total deletion from the swarms of undead. Players once deleted added to Nates exp and rocketed him from level zero to level three. Nate's name turned a crimson red and he quickly amassed ten bad karma points. This placed a large ten gold bounty reward on his head.
Using his holowatch and inspecting his skills page, he allocated points rather differently to what he used in the real world. Unimpressed by the lack of skill within Lunthoria Nate gripped the wooden cart with a tight grip. So foul was the necromancers mood Bones stayed silent and looked at the rolling Richot potatoes that had dropped from a stall. A D rank food item that Bones could never eat. His dream, like other Grenchittys, disappeared when Nate deleted him and then resurrected him. No longer would he ever eat one of every kind of potato. As an undead, he had no food bar or tastebuds.
"How long will these specs of useless NPC's take to respawn Bones? I grow impatient." Snapped Nate as he looked up at the three moons. He wished he hadn't overdone it.
"Quest givers can take as little as twelve hours to respawn. Civilians can take anything from nine hours to twenty-four hours, master. By the time a full day cycle has been the town will be repaired and back to normal. Any new spawned in civilian or quest giver should not know what transpired before. They should not remember you. Do you plan to attack again?" asked Bones in a raspy tone.
"No. I aimed to get one or two levels and stop. I got a little carried away with the insanity of it all. Now I wish to complete this island's quests and move onto the next. I expect more from the next couple of islands," Nate sighed again. He had become utterly bored.
