Driving his sword into the grassy ground, Lance leaned on it before then wiping away the sweat from his face with the back of his hand. Every square inch of him was soaked and he needed a shower or a bath. Trix and Rajin were not what they seemed at first despite their red nameplates. Nice enough, the pair were utter slave drivers when they found the motivation.
Out in the wilds of Lunthoria in the vast green meadows with forests and the town on the horizon the three lads had spent two days and nights battling the various beasts and creatures that spawned in. For the most part, they trained in the dead of the night against the Terrors and slept for a total of four hours during the day. Lance had never known training as hardcore as what he was undergoing.
In two brief nights, Lance had seen his level rocket to eight and his skill with sword and shield had improved. Now the experience points gained from defeating a monster barely moved his experience bar. According to Trix, the Tutorial Islands had a hidden level bracket. Level eight being the rough cap between islands one and sixty. Level ten was the permanent cap on Tutorial islands. Monsters, beasts, or player deletions would only offer experience to a player if they had come from the mainland after level ten. Not that any player worth their salt used the islands to level.
Huffing and puffing as he tried to catch his breath, Lance looked up, his neck muscles straining. A Salatooth that he had been fighting now raced towards him, thundering feet shaking the ground as teeth bigger than Lance's face were on view.
"If you keep stopping to rest, MasterMooch, then a Salatooth will devour you," exclaimed Trix as he darted past Lance and drew both of his swords.
Giant rex teeth coming down towards Lance and Trix as the Salatooth attempted to devour them were met with steel and sliced clean off as Trix had overwhelming strength. Enough to force the forty-tonne Salatooth back.
"Now, Rajin. Light it up!" said Trix as he put away his swords and watched the Salatooth shake its giant head.
"Right you are master. Thunderous discharge!" Rajin who had been napping on the grass yawned, stretched his legs and then like a switched had been flipped awoke.
Turning into a bolt of lightning Rajin streaked across the meadows lighting it up as he did and leaving a trail of fire where his paws had touched the grass. He raced straight at the level fifteen Salatooth and then went straight through its chest with a thunderous leap. Rajin dealt huge damage to the Salatooth and with it being half beaten by Lance it now crumpled to the floor ready to loot. Its second life now over.
"Sorry," breathed Lance as he dismissed his sword.
"To be expected. It is level fifteen and I didn't have faith in your ability to solo it," Trix laughed as Lance found enough strength to scowl.
"Is there a reason we are fighting these?" panted Lance as he struggled to put one foot in front of the other.
"Of course there is," said a joyous Trix as he wandered over to the towering deceased Salatooth and opened up the loot inventory.
"And the reason?" pressed Lance.
"Salatooth teeth are worth a small fortune. Fifty silver each. Besides this, they often drop some good gear. Classed as a mini-dungeon boss in the wilds they have unpredictable loot drops. So long as we don't take on packs of these or the alpha versions we are okay to farm them. Tutorial Islands don't have much variety in the way of beasts until past island sixty. We shall call it a day." Said Trix as the Salatooth turned to green balls of experience and numbers. Both being absorbed into the ground as no one could claim the experience points.
