Due to Rajin's intervention, Luke recovered from his soul-crushing defeat. Before the events of Coco island, Luke made his way back to the destroyed inn. Roads had been closed and civilians acted like nothing had happened as they continued their usual day errands. No one remained in the area and Luke didn't know where they had gone.
In a normal world, police would be all over the scene and all over Damocles, but town guards and the populace didn't even remember the events or the people responsible. The inn, crumbling apart would take hours to repair on its own and the people deleted would take time to respawn. Luke looked around at the damage as he wandered the roads. The scorch marks from the magma, the broken bits of the road from Moto's Warhammer, and dark ink like puddles from Salamays leftover curses. There were even impact craters.
Split, Nagori, Cissy, and Alianna had vanished from the area and Luke no longer had Nebs to help track them down. Instead, he had to rely on his head. Alianna looked similar to Lina so Luke decided that he would check the alchemy labs building. Between the trees overlooking the path Luke opened up the doors of the building and walked inside. His idea proved to be correct as he could see Alianna treating the girls and Split to a drink from a black kettle.
Split wrapped in a black sheet to hide his nakedness had a nasty habit of taking it off and then getting smacked by Cissy to put it back on. He grew to like the cold. The girls had also been gifted some shoddy looking leather garments and boots. Throat drying, hands shaking, Luke shook them before heading towards the group and through the alchemy stations and bookcases.
"Returned quicker than I thought," said Alianna as she ejected another chair and another cup from her holo watch. The cup landed on the cluttered desk and the chair on the floor next to the others.
Scholars remained as slugs in her office area and now everyone stared at Luke. The tension was thick and faces were awkward. Having never apologised before except to Rajin moments ago, Luke gulped. He recalled how they said sorry in his favourite anime's/ overdramatic, but he felt it was needed.
All around the room were gasps as they watched Luke get down onto his knees. Nagori, Cissy and Split shot up out of their seats, Split's black cloth dropping to the floor. Each knew Luke wasn't the only one at fault. Everyone had equal blame. That said the situation would have garnered the same results. Nagori, Cissy, and Split tried to speak and to stop Luke from bowing his head on the ground, but none could. Alianna cursed them from moving and speaking with several potions. Luke not seeing this as he bowed his head and rested it on the marble floor.
"I'm sorry!" he shouted through tears, the tears splashing down on the floor as he sniffled. "I was too weak, powerless, and big-headed. I should have taken the help. I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I lost and I'm sorry I lost all of our friends. Please! Forgive me. Please, help me get them back!" Luke lifted his head to see the entire room, except Alianna bawling their eyes out. Split even had a runny nose.
"Half-expected a snot-nosed brat with an ego the size of a planet when I first met you, Nebs And Quinn. To think that you were Awesome Biscuit. I couldn't believe it, you were friendly and Nebs raved on and on about you. I made the right call in not deleting you when I came across you," said Alianna as she conjured several more potions and splashed them over the group.
"Sire!" called Split as he dived naked onto the floor. "Don't bow for us common folk."
"Common folk!" raged Cissy as she booted Split up the rear.
"We are all to blame, Luke. We didn't have to listen to your advice and yet we did. Captivated in your skill and because of who you are," said Nagori.
"But he was arrogant and underestimated his opponents, who have two years of battle experience," Alianna sat back in her red cushioned chair.
"I won't be fighting them all on my own next time. I understand that," said Luke, anger in his voice as he stood up.
"When I came here, I knew Avilien was harder than any game I had played after my first battle with a Bruntusk. I still believed I could conquer it. My head got a little too big. But I will defeat Damocles." Defiant, Luke locked eyes with Alianna.
"So you say. I'd like to test your skill for myself. For now, we need to get you levels and some proper PVP experience. One day of Terror farming and then one day of duelling me" suggested Alianna causing the group to look at her.
"You're level twenty, why not go and bash Damocles in and stop him?" questioned Nagori.
"Besides the fact I'm not even meant to be here, I doubt Luke wants me to do that. All of us developers are wrapped up in a war on the frontlines. Trix had gone awol and I was tasked with making him return. Each of us developers has an area we have to keep under control. How do I bring back a man whos one of the best PVPers in Avilien? Still, I was sent the task." Alianna sighed.
"Trix and Rajin will assault Damocles and slay all in their path in three days. They are waiting for Luke's retaliation first and giving him the chance. Regardless Damocles will fall. Trix even sent me the mail himself," claimed Alianna.
"Awesome! So none of us needs to do anything. Damocles and his group will get beaten and we all get our guides back," said a happy Cissy.
"Trix is a wind user. Damocles could also ask for reinforcement from the guild. If they send an undertaker then Trix is in trouble. He could end up defeated and then Corpse Collectors gain Rajin and his samurai class. Salamay could also hinder him useless. The two of you are going to be needed," explained Alianna as she looked at Luke.
"I'm going to beat him. I will be the one to put Damocles down," said a defiant Luke. "I need to defeat him. I won't let someone else correct my mistakes. That's my job."
"Terrormode starts in a few hours. I'll make you all some gear for your levels. Afterwards, we spar for as long as possible, Awesome Biscuit," Alianna smirked as she conjured over fifty bottles of stamina potions. The bottles cluttering the already cluttered desk.
