Exhausted, panting, barely able to stand the group watched the three moons disappear and daylight creep over the hills and the towering trees in distant forests. Six o'clock had arrived, the daylight burning away the Terrors as they fled in fear of the encroaching light. It was like watching vampires turn to dust. Happy and smiling the group of four, not including guides collapsed on the grass as Bruntusks magically appeared in the area. Even though the first Gruntusk proved an easy victory they began to get harder with stamina depleting. In all, they managed eleven victories.
It wasn't until the third Gruntusk was slain that Luke learned that to obtain the rarer parts of creatures for various crafting professions they needed to be hacked off or broken during the battle before the beast kicked the bucket. Breaking parts also made the creatures susceptible to increased damage and critical strikes. Even so, it still took an entire night to slay a mere eleven.
Quinn, hopping out of the holo watch as he had slept most of the night looked bright-eyed as he poked a yawning Nebs. Nebs exhausted from tracking all night wanted nothing more than a hot spud and a cat nap.
"Sir Nebs cannot fall asleep yet. I'm a horrible tracker and don't even know the way back to the city." Nebs rolled his tired eyes.
"The city can be seen in the distance, you dolt. Master best give me a whole lot of spuds for this." Nebs yawned as Luke sat on the grass going through his inventory, checking over loot.
Luke had gained seventeen silver and thirty-two copper coins from all the slaying, as had everyone else. The girls, exhausted but giddy with excitement over their fortunes dreamt of all the food and clothes they could buy. Nagori in desperate need to fund her snack habit. Cissy wanted new clothes and wanted to increase her blacksmithing with all the raw materials that had been gathered. The issue she had was the total worth of the materials as they lay before her.
Between Split, Luke, Nagori, and Cissy they accumulated a total of four gold and ninety silvers worth of blacksmithing materials. All of it piled into three brown sacks.
"I can't take all of this. It's worth a small fortune. Seriously, you should all sell it. I have enough materials to make a few pieces." Cissy stared down each of the group as they stood before her.
"Shut up and take it, " said Split. "If you don't you have to go on a date with yours truly." Split smiled and Cissy hacked.
"I'd rather eat hot coal. I'll take the materials." Cissy picked up each of the bags while Split hung his head.
"Hang in there champ," spoke Nebs as he yawned from a top Luke's shoulder. "I'm sure an Ogre won't turn you down." Nebs tried to laugh but gave up halfway through as he was too tired.
"Think its time we all head back and get some sleep," suggested Nagori as she stretched her arms to the sky. One by one the group nodded in agreement. Every single fibre of their beings hurt and all eyes were close to shutting.
Tired as he was, Nebs led the group towards the city, regardless of whether it could be seen on the horizon. Afterwards, when they made it back to the road he jumped back into the watch. City gates now open and fewer guards the group walked on through and headed through the city streets until they reached the inn.
Inside, the girls booked a room and so did the lads. Each would share to save on cost. Comfortable white quilted beds with wooden dressers and draws surrounded the bedrooms, as did potted plants on the windowsills. Two beds per room and as soon as faces hit pillows all of the group were out like lights.
For five hours the group slept, snoring loudly as birds chirped on the windows. No matter where Nebs went he couldn't escape blasted birds antagonising him. Quinn spent most of the time tapping on the window and playing with the majestic blue coloured Fenril birds. First to awake was Luke, Nebs had stolen the entire pillow and put his back paws in Luke's face. All four tails were all wrapped around his throat too.
