Where Luke awoke, the clearing had now grown in size. Trees had been toppled with the Bruntusks furious charges and as the Brustusk smashed into another tall oak toppling it, Luke charged in with a barge of light strikes. Each time the man-eating boar collided with the environment it spent a few seconds dazed. This gave Luke the openings he needed. One strike from the Bruntusk would end him, so he used every ounce of mechanics and terrain to his advantage.

Oaks crumpling like paper as the Brunstusk entered a frenzied rage mode no longer dazed it. It ploughed straight through two trees in a bid to smash a breathless, sweaty, and heavily panting Luke. For the best part of three hours, Luke had danced the dance of death with the boar. Stamina long since depleted, Luke felt like his chest was going to explode and his legs felt like iron.

'A few more strikes,' Luke told himself as he rolled to the right to dodge a lethal charge and then countered it by springing forward and running Crackling Thunder down the length of the man-eating monster.

Now and then the Bruntusk did rejuvenate health so it was taking Luke longer to slay it. Factor in that the beast was not meant to be soloed meant Luke was that good of a gamer. The Bruntusk had taken serious damage and its charges had slowed. Its overall movements were sluggish and now reeling in pain from the strike Luke gave it glowed bright red and stomped the ground as if it were a raging bull.

In a tree outside of the battle, Nebs yawned as he tried to be excited. Soon the three of them would reach level one, the easiest feat in all of Avilien. Quinn sat next to Nebs biting his nails and then hit little fingers. He had remained yellow with worry since the fight started. His legs and arms were more jelly than usual. Half the time the little ball of fuzz couldn't watch and closed his round eyes.

Head shaking left to right the Bruntusk kicked up grass and mud before dashing at Luke with tremendous speed. Its power and speed must have grown with it being so close to deletion. Luke braced himself less than ten meters away in the clearing he started in. One last attack, that was what it had come down to, for both of them.

Using the game mechanics to leap high Luke timed it right as the Bruntusk missed. Sword in both hands Luke descended like an angel of death and drove deep into the digital back of the beast. Numbers and green balls of exp spilled out like a shower and the Bruntusk crashed into the ground, now un-moving.

Luke, absolutely spent fell off the back of the boar and onto the ground. He wiped his forehead from the sweat and began to laugh.

"Congratulations on reaching level one, player, Luke Grey. You have successfully unlocked your Beta class and also unlocked the achievement 'Baby steps.' Depositing your title 'baby' into the title section," said Lukes holo watch named Kara.

Sitting up, the Bruntusk hadn't disappeared. A small brown bag icon hovered above its body like a strange emoji. Luke had yet to loot it. Stood up and tapping on the beast a box menu appeared with items inside. Inside was an item called boars stomach, as gross as it sounded Luke took it as it contained items. Then there were half-eaten berries and half a tree. If Luke had a cooking profession, he could have harvested the boar for meat and if he had a leather making profession, he could have harvested hide. With no option to do either Luke clicked the dismiss button and the boar turned into thousands of green numbers that were then absorbed into the ground.

"In a couple of hours, another Bruntusk will respawn in the area. Told you we would get to level one easy, Quinn," Nebs patted Quinns back so hard the little guy fell out of the tree. Nebs laughed with both paws in the air and lost his grip of the branch himself. His laughter turned to gloom as he fell.

Little by little Luke began to feel better and less drained. Nebs and Quinn hurried over to congratulate him or rather one of them did. Nebs went straight for the watch on Lukes's wrist as Luke sat down.
