Half his health chipped away, sweat dripping from his brow as he panted, Split couldn't rest. Nook gave him no time to recuperate, and rightly so. In the throws of intense battle across the fields Split had taken Nooks health down to one thousand.
Astral spears rained down from the wintery sky decimating the grassy landscape below as they were relentless in their hunt for Split. Spears missing by an inch exploded the ground leaving behind creators and damaging Split as he attempted to avoid contact. In retaliation, Split fired off FireBlast and used the ability to zip around. His mana had dwindled to fifty remaining and Nook could sense victory.
Conjuring more spears and keeping the young lad at bay Nook kept an eager watch on his enemies mana. For Nook, the battle had dragged on far longer than he anticipated. Never did he believe a level five mage would push him so. Not forgetting it was a mage that he once destroyed years past and a mage that recently got everything stolen from him.
"Surrender, kid. You cannot win," shouted Nook from a safe distance across the field of battle. He readied another astral spear in his right hand.
"I'm not going to quit. I'm going to beat you. After that, I'm going to team up with his majesty as he beats Damocles and frees all the people and guides you've enslaved. Besides, if I lost to you how would that prove my worth?" Split smirked as he dodged the raging astral spear filled with Nooks menace.
"The fight is over, now." Nook pushed up his glasses and summoned his main weapon to hand.
Split watched as Nook glowed blue for a second, the trinket of mimicry now in use as Nook stole all of Splits stats and added them to his own for the next two minutes. Sensing a clear victory, Nook raced across the field of battle, able to now keep up with Split who could no longer fly due to mana issues. Split knew this moment was coming. He knew the cooldown of the trinket and knew he had to survive for the next two minutes. Surviving wasn't good enough.
Split wanted total victory, he had waited for Nook to use the trinket. He wanted to beat Nook with the trinket in active play.
"Spear of Anul!" yelled Nook as his weapon turned red and then extended across the grassy field, piercing through a stunned Split.
Through his chest and out of his back Split watched his health hit one. His head spun and the world around him felt strange as he fell to his knees with hands flopping to the side.
"Told you the fight was over. It doesn't matter if your friend is Awesome Biscuit or not. Damocles will beat him," said Nook as he removed his weapon before it deleted Split.
"Heh, the fight isn't over..." spat Split as he coughed and wheezed. Somehow he clung to his consciousness.
"To the victor goes the spoils I'm afraid. Let us see if you managed to acquire anything decent." Nook reached for Splits' arm and then removed the holo watch.
No matter how many times Nook tapped the holo watch it wouldn't activate and he couldn't understand why. He looked at Split and the watch over and over.
"It won't work, because that is not the real me," said a smug second Split as he crawled out of one of the creators made by Nooks colliding spears.
Nook looked across at the new emerging Split with full health and mana. A knot formed in his gut. Had he been fighting a clone the entire time?
"Didn't realise until now did you," laughed Split. Smugness oozed from him, "Clones also have half of the originals stats. From the very first creator that you made, back when you dared to strike his highness, you've been fighting a copy. As a level six red player, I had to be careful. I've seen three of your abilities and I'm confident I can take you." Split charged FireBlast in his feet as Nook threw down the fake holo watch.
Peeved that he had never noticed and fell to such a pitiful trick he had to admit that the clone gave him serious problems. Now he had to face the real version. Regardless he charged forward to meet his attacker head-on. Before he reached Split a fist embued with FireBlast side blinded him and sent him soaring through the grass. The attack taking a modest two hundred and fifty health away. the continuous bouncing across the ground as Nook skimmed the landscape like a chucked pebble took another fifty health off of him until he rolled to a stop.
"And who said that was even the original?" Split with fierce determination had jumped out of another hole and took Nook by surprise.
Close to stamina exhaustion from having two clones out and another that had battled for over ten minutes, Split fought to keep his eyes open and his breathing in check as he panted.
Wiping his mouth as he shook off the dirt, Nook got to his feet. This new Split looked ready to faint if the wind so much as blew. He could win... that thought made Nook check his surroundings for any more of these clones.
"Fire Vortex!" screamed Split as he dashed towards Nook with weak legs. Clone, FireBlast, and Fire Vortex were all of Splits' learned abilities. Fire Vortex conjured a tornado-like fire in a certain vicinity and did two hundred damage, plus fifty every second the enemy stood within it. Split, however, didn't use it the traditional way.
Fist stretched out, Split shot the ability out of it and at a petrified Nook. A Nook that became engulfed by the swirling flames. Going down to one knee as the flames rushed past Split couldn't keep the ability up for long enough as his eyes began to close.
"I won't let you beat me!" raged an angry Nook who took Split by surprise as he summed a spear and pelted him with it.
On less than a hundred health Nook limped towards a sprawled out, panting Split. Split had health and mana to spare, but his stamina was so deep into negative he had to watch Nook creep forward.
"My win! Mine!" yelled Nook as he drove the spear down on a helpless Split.
Quick enough Split's health vanished. Four-hundred, three-hundred then two-hundred.
"FireBlast!" as Split passed out on the ground, spear still impaled a healthy clone made its way across the fields and clobbered Nook from behind.
Nook on one health was pelted away from Split, spear, and all. A message popping above his head. Split, due to exhaustion passed out with ninety health. With both warriors down it now became a fight of who would wake first. Whichever recovered enough to come around would claim victory.
