Chapter Fourteen: Something Came Up
THE bell rang above EZ's head as he entered the bookstore, his brown eyes searching the small store for a certain green eyed brunette. For the first time in a long time the Reyes man had woken up with a genuine smile on his face, but it quickly left once he realized he was alone. EZ wasn't sure him waking up alone meant Selena had regretted last night or that it was nothing more than a one time thing for her, but EZ hoped that wan't the case — he wanted more than just one night with the brunette."Hi, EZ."
The Reyes man turned his attention towards the blonde with a stack of books in her arms, a friendly smile was placed on her face as she stared at him with a questioning look in her blue eyes.
"Hey, Sarah." EZ nodded, a small smile appearing on his face.
"Do you need something?" She questioned while placing the books in her arms on the counter, her eyebrow raising slightly as she looked at the Mayan Prospect.
Sarah Anderson had a feeling as to why EZ Reyes was there, and she was sure it had to do with her boss. The blonde had heard what happened between Selena and EZ last night — well pieces of it anyway before Selena had to leave the store in a rush.
"Is Selena here?" EZ asked, choosing to ignore the smirk on the blonde's face.
A sigh left EZ's mouth as the blonde shook her head. He ran a hand over his cropped hair as he thought about what his next move should be — did he check her house to see if she was there? Or did he just go back to the scrapyard and wait for her to get in contact with him? It had been a long time since EZ had to worry about things like this, and it was just another reality check from life that he had spent a large part of his life behind bars instead of out in the real world.
"She went home a few minutes ago." Sarah's voice said, breaking EZ out of his thoughts. "She got a phone call that sounded important." The blonde added.
Sarah had figured it wasn't a big deal to tell EZ know about the phone call that had made Selena rush out of the bookstore like a bat out of hell. She had already texted Diego with concern about his sister, but having yet to receive a reply from the Cortez man she decided to let the Reyes man know.
"Thanks, Sarah." EZ smiled at the blonde who had been making herself familiar at the Mayan clubhouse under the protective arm of their newest prospect.
The bell rang over EZ's head once again as he exited the bookstore, a look of determination on his face as he swung his leg over his bike.

EZ pulled his bike up to the curb of Selena's house and quickly cut the engine, his brown eyes eyed the unknown car in her driveway as he walked towards the old blue house. The Reyes man swiftly walked up the worn down porch steps and tapped his knuckles against the door.
"EZ, what are you doing here?" Selena questioned once she opened the door.
It wasn't the exact words he had been hoping to hear, but just seeing Selena reminded EZ of last night's events and how badly he wanted to repeat them.
"I stopped by the store to see you," He began, noticing the brunette quickly close the door behind her as she stepped out onto the porch. "Sarah told me you got a call and went home." The Reyes man smiled.
EZ couldn't help but smile when he was around Selena, there was just something about her that made him genuinely happy, and made him forget about all the shit going on in his life.
"Yeah." A sigh left Selena's lips. "Something came up." The brunette added with a small smile as her green eyes connected with EZ's warm brown ones.
Selena was regretting leaving the comfort of EZ's trailer this morning. The bullshit of her day had started fifteen minutes after she walked into the bookstore, and it only seemed to get worse when she received a phone call from her mother. Arabella Vega was in Santo Padre — more specifically she was at Selena's house.
"I wanna talk about last night, Lena." EZ said, his voice breaking the brunette from her thoughts. "Do you have time?" He asked, hoping she didn't send him away or tell him last night was a regret.
A sigh left Selena's lips at EZ's question. She wanted to talk about last night too, she wanted to know how he felt about it all. Did he think of it as just a one night stand? Did he regret it? The green eyed brunette really wanted to have a conversation with the Reyes man, but right now wasn't the best time.
"I -"
"Jesus Christ, Selena." Arabella Vega's voice hissed as she opened the door. "Are you coming back inside anytime soon?" The older brunette woman questioned as she stepped onto the porch with her arms immediately going across her chest.
A small scoff escaped Selena's at her mother's voice, "EZ meet Arabella Vega — my mother."
