"While Bella's out, I want you to meet a friend of mine," Charlie says to Maggie once the girl clothed in her pajamas comes down the following morning. "Her name's Allison. She really wants to meet you."

"Let me make us some breakfast and you some coffee, and I'll get dressed," Maggie murmurs tiredly.

"Got it," Charlie replies. "I'm gonna go get dressed, and brush my teeth."

Maggie simply nods. She cooks some scrambled eggs, toast, and some bacon. She brews Charlie a pot of coffee before pouring herself a glass of orange juice that's full of the pulp. Charlie soon comes downstairs in some jeans and a black long sleeve.

"Whew, go dad!" Maggie teases.

Charlie rolls his eyes as his cheeks grow pink as he blushes. Charlie goes to the coffee pot after grabbing his #1 DAD coffee pot Maggie got him for Father's Day when she was ten. She and Sue went to the store, and Mags picked it out.

"I'm gonna get dressed after we eat," Maggie says. "Who's your friend?"

"Her name is Allison... King," Charlie says.

Allison and Joshua might be divorced, but she kept his last name. But her maiden name is King.

"She lives on the reservation," Charlie adds.

Maggie nods and the two eat their breakfast.

Charlie knocks on Allison's door while his daughter looks around. Allison's house is beside Embry Call's house. The door opens and a gorgeous woman opens the door. She has long, black hair and pretty russet skin. Her eyes are dark but warm. She's paleish but her tan is still a darker russet.

"Charlie?" The woman gushes with a warm smile. "Wow. This is such a pleasant surprise." She glances at Maggie and she smiles welcomingly. "Hello, dear. I'm Allison."

"I'm Maggie," Maggie claims.

Allison's heart begins to hammer inside her chest when she hears that name. She's the one who named her. She smiles at her.

"This is the daughter you mentioned over the phone," Allison says as she turns back to Charlie. "Come in, both of you. I was just making some tea."

Charlie nudges for Maggie to go on, and she does so.

"Why did you bring her here?" Allison asks in a hushed voice.

"I know you're sick, Allison," Charlie says. "You had to meet her before you got worse."

Allison sighs. "Charlie, I've been doing better."

"And Maggie's your..."

"I know," Allison whispers. "Let's go before she gets suspicious."

Allison goes to her tea kettle and she pours a cup for Maggie.

"Thank you," Maggie says with a smile.

"You're welcome, sweetie," Allison replies kindly as Charlie watches them. "Charlie, tea?"

"I'm not a tea fan, Allison, you know that," Charlie replies.
