After Allison's scans are done and tests, Maggie brings her to Forks. Charlie smiles when he sees Allison.
"Allison, would you like some water?" Maggie asks.
"Please," Allison replies as she sits with Charlie at the dining table, who is cleaning his rifle. "Nice rifle. Mine's bigger."
Charlie snorts. "I know."
Maggie brings Allison a glass of water as Bella enters the house. "Hey, Bella."
"Hey, Maggie," Bella greets, she pauses when she sees Allison. "Oh. Hi."
"Hello," Allison greets. "You're Bella, right? I'm Allison."
"Nice to meet you," Bella says and she looks at Charlie. "I have a date with Edward Cullen."
Charlie looks up quickly. "He's too old for you."
"He's a junior, I'm a junior," Bella says as Allison smiles slightly. "I thought you liked the Cullens."
"And I thought you weren't interested in any of the boys in town," Charlie counters.
"Edward doesn't live 'in town'," Bella claims. "And it's in the early stages... He's right outside right now."
"Now? He's out there?" Charlie asks.
"He wants to officially meet you," Bella claims.
"Good," Charlie says and he cocks his rifle.
"Be nice, please," Bella pleads. "He's... important."
Charlie traces the shape of a halo above his head, this time Allison does laugh. Bella walks to the door to let Edward in. Edward is wearing a parka and a pair of gloves.
"Chief Swan," Edward speaks. "I wanted to formally introduce myself. I'm Edward Cullen."
Edward reaches his hand out and Charlie takes it. He grunts in greeting, resisting Edward's 'charm'.
"I won't keep Bella out late," Edward claims. "We're going to go play baseball with my family."
Maggie chokes on her water when she hears this. Allison walks up to her immediately and she rubs Maggie's back to sooth her.
"Bella's going to play baseball?" Charlie asks in shock, speaking Maggie's mind.
"Yes, sir," Edward replies, "that's the plan."
"Well," Charlie speaks. "More power to you, I guess."
Edward looks Charlie right in the eyes. She'll me safe with me, sir. I promise."
"Maggie, are you alright?" Allison asks once Edward and Bella leave.
"Yep, I'm fine," Maggie replies. "Bella and sports?"
"I know," Charlie mutters. "Surprising."
"Allison, are you staying for dinner?" Maggie asks.
"You should," Charlie adds. "Mags is an amazing cook."
"I don't know where I get it from, you burn water," Maggie muses.
"I can help cook," Allison offers. "I'm a pretty good cook, too."
Maggie grins. "Dad, go put your gun away."
Charlie rolls his eyes. "Yes, ma'am."
Maggie raises an eyebrow and Charlie brings his rifle upstairs. Maggie and Allison smile at each other before they begin to make some barbecue chicken along some broccoli and cheese casserole.
******Maggie drives Allison back home after dinner and she goes back home. Bella is storming out to her truck when Mags is home and she hurries inside. Charlie is close to tears and is visibly shaking.
"Dad?"
"She's leaving," Charlie whispers.
Maggie frowns and she hugs Charlie. Charlie tenses momentarily before he hugs Maggie back. He holds back his cries as Maggie hugs him. Charlie looks up at the ceiling and he exhales deeply.
Maggie and Charlie eventually go to bed that night, both sleeping in the living room. Charlie is on the couch while Maggie is passed out on the loveseat, while they wait for either Renee or Bella to call.
