Maggie is leaning against Paul on the couch as she enjoys his presence. It's been about a week since that day in Port Angeles. Sam won't let her go out alone with her human friends anymore until they get better control of her temper. She completely understands.
Maggie is still working at the garage for Joshua. She's worked everyday this week and it's finally the weekend. Maggie is relieved to be able to relax with her imprint, her best friend, and her brother. She's especially glad that she lives here now so that Charlie won't ask questions about why she's always in La Push.
Sam comes stomping into the living room once he's off the phone. "Paul, call Jared then meet Maggie and me at the Call residence."
"What's going on?" Paul asks as he grabs his cell from the coffee table.
"I'm not sure how, but Embry Call is phasing right now," Sam replies. "That was Tiffany Call calling. He's showing all the signs, the same ones that all of us showed on the day we phased."
Paul nods once and he walks toward the kitchen for some privacy.
Maggie and Sam leave the house and they strip in some bushes before phasing. They head clothes with their snouts before they run off.
'Sam, could be be Joshua's love child?' Maggie asks via mind link.
'She has a valid point,' Jared claims as his wolf catches up. "He did sleep with someone when Mags was what, one?'
Sam wants to doubt it but both his beta and his sister both make very good points. 'It's possible that Embry is our brother, Maggie.'
'We will have to talk to Tiffany,' Maggie states and Sam's solid black wolf nods.
Paul doesn't take too long before he catches up after he is forced to eat a BLT sandwich by Emily. She'd have made Sam and Maggie eat, too, if they hadn't left so quickly. Jared left and phased at his place after he bonded with Amanda for a while.
The pack all phase back and dress before they approach the door. Allison steps out of her house as Sam knocks on the Call's door. Maggie waves at her mother, Allison waves back before she leaves to go to Charlie's.
"Oh, thank god!" Tiffany gushes. "Harry is trying to explain everything to Embry but he's freaking out."
Sam smiles softly at the terrified woman who also happens to be on the council. "We'll take care of it, Tiffany. Promise."
"Thank you, Sam, truly," Tiffany coos. "I don't know what I'd do if he went through this all alone."
"I understand," Sam says softly, Maggie stands stiffly by Paul's side. "Where is he?"
Tiffany releases a shaky breath as she leads the wolves through the house. Tiffany Call is on the tribe's council alone with Harry Clearwater, Billy Black, and Quil Ateara Sr. Tiffany has been on the tribe council since her husband, Wyatt Call, passed away before Embry was even conceived.
The long haired boy Maggie recognizes from first beach that day is laying in his bed, shaking and sweating like a pig in the summer heat. Maggie grimaces as she remembers going through this. Paul quietly takes her hand and she feels herself calming down almost instantly. Once calm enough, she releases Paul's hand.
"Embry," Sam speaks softly as he kneels beside the bed. "How do you feel?"
"Like crap," Embry replies and he whimpers as a pain shoots through him.
"It hurts, I know," Sam urges. "Now, what has Mr. Clearwater told you, Embry?"
"That I'm... that I'm turning into a..." Embry whimpers again. "That I'm turning into a wolf."
"He's right," Sam says. "Do you remember the stories that Billy Black would tell are the bonfires your mom would bring you to?"
"Ye-Ye-Yes," Embry replies.
Maggie walks into the room with a wet rag with ice in it after leaving for a moment. She steps up beside her brother and she lays the ice pack on Embry's forehead.
"Those stories Billy told about the shape shifters are real, Embry," Sam says sternly. "And you're turning into one."
"Are you - are you one?" Embry asks shakily.
"I am," Sam replies. "So are Paul, Jared, and Maggie."
"My mom?"
"No, no, you're mom isn't a wolf," Sam replies and Tiffany feels her heart falter slightly. "I'm not sure where you got the gene, Embry, but the importance of right now is that you do."
"How do I- how do I stop the pain?" Embry whimpers.
"You have to let in the pain," Sam urges. "It will hurt like hell your first phase."
Embry looks at Maggie. "Is he...?"
"He's right," Maggie replies softly. "It hurts like hell at first and then it's nothing."
Embry nods as Maggie moves the rag over his head and he literally screams as a bone breaks. Maggie looks at Sam quickly before he grabs Embry in a frenzy. Tiffany rushes after the wolves and Harry as they bring Embry out to her backyard where a fence hides them from the other, non-shifter neighbors.
Paul and Jared make Maggie stand near them as Embry twists and his bones break until he shifts into a huge timberwolf.

"There we go," Maggie whispers with a small smile. "He phased."
"The pain?" Tiffany asks her, her voice breaking.
"Is over," Maggie says as she touches Tiffany's arm. "The pain's over."
"Can I speak with you and Sam once we know Embry okay?" Tiffany asks.
"How about you come by in a couple of days and we can talk?" Maggie asks. "We need to work with Embry and fill him in on everything."
Tiffany nods. "Thank you."
Maggie, Paul, and Jared all then phase. Embry looks at them in awe before they all head back to the Uley residence.
