Bella Swan stands in the bottom steps before the Cullen family, Edward is standing behind her. She and Edward have discussed her being turned into a vampire, like him. He doesn't want her to. He wants his singer to grow old and die naturally. But Bella, being as stubborn as she is, has decided to put the face of her immortality to a vote.

"You all know what Edward wants," Bella claims once Edward is done speaking his thoughts to the family. "And you know what I want. "But I won't force myself on you. I think the only fair way to handle this is by vote...."

"You can't be serious," Edward grumbles, he didn't know anything about the vote.

"This is my meeting, Edward," Bella says go him firmly, in a way that would make Maggie proud if she had heard it.

Edward growls in frustration as he leans against the railing, not saying another word.

Bella turns back to the coven. "However this turns out, I'm not letting the Volturi hurt you. I'll go back to Italy alone..."

"The hell you will," Emmett barks his interruption; he was happy to see Maggie again but then he heard of the missed fight in Volterra, Italy and Bree upset. "I'm not missing another fight, rather I'm reuniting with my favorite wolf or not."

"That's not up for a vote, Emmett," Bella replies. "I don't want you involved."

"We've always been involved, honey," Esme coos, "And we're not going to stop..."

"No, please — I want you to seriously think about this," Bella cuts in. "If I join you, you'll be stuck with me for a long time - forever. It's a huge decision. And I want - I need your honesty here."

The coven nods, or mumbling their agreements. Rosalie looks beyond annoyed but also sad.

"Then lets take a vote," Bella says, ignoring the look on Rosalie's face. "Alice?"

Alice skips up and she gives the human a hug. "I already consider you as a sister. Yes!"

Bella smiles at her and she turns to look at Jasper for his answer next.

"I vote yes," Jasper says as he keeps his distance. "It would be nice to not want go kill you all the time."

"Um... thanks," Bella mumbles, and she looks away from him. "Okay, Rosalie?"

"Edward, I'm sorry for what I did. I really am, and I know you're not ready to forgive me..." a torn Rosalie says and she turns to Bella. "But this isn't the life I'd have chosen for myself. I wish there'd been someone to vote no for me..." she exchanges a glance with Carlisle, who looks down to his feet. "So, no."

"I vote hell yes!" Emmett exclaims and he hugs bella, twirling her a but before putting her down. "We Can oick a fight with the Volturi some other way."

Esme walks up and she hugs Bella. "I already think of you as part of this family. Yes."

"Thank you, Esme," Bella says softly.

"Edward..." Carlisle speaks directly to Edward, not Bella.

"You can't go along with this, Carlisle," Edward says, almost pleading. "You know what it means."

"You've chosen not live without her, which leaves me no choice. I won't lose my son," Carlisle says and he turns to the human. "But Alice has never turned anybody. It'd be safer if I did it..."

He's cut off by the door slamming and Edward flashing out.
