We can just stay here in this minute
Lose all track of time
Let the world spin on without us for a while
I'm telling you, we're just one kiss away from heaven
So baby, hold on tight
'Cause I want to get wrapped up in your love
So baby, let's just stay here tonight
TonightRyan offered to take me back to his house until Courtney and Chase returned home. I agreed, mainly because I was hoping we could pick up where we left off. In the meantime though, I was starving. If I couldn't have sex, I at least needed food. Before we left though, Ryan stopped by my apartment managers office and let them know that the place needed to be sprayed because there were spiders. I hadn't even thought of that, I just wanted to get the hell out of there.
I had a few other questions that I had to ask. They had been weighing on my mind and I've been pushing them back, but I had to know. "A few weeks ago, I saw you out with a redhead in a suit. I'm only asking because I want to make sure I'm not overstepping any bounds."
"I'm not seeing anyone Sam. The redhead, she's my financial advisor. Happily married with two kids."
"What about the girl at the track with the little blonde boy?" I asked.
He laughed. "You mean my sister Emma? Yeah. I have another sister. That little boy was my nephew Louie. I promise Sam, I'm not seeing anyone else." He took my hand and squeezed it. "I'm not that guy, at least I'm not anymore."
"I'm sorry Ryan, I just needed to ask. I should have trusted you more. That's one more thing I need to work on is trust issues."
"I'm not mad at you for asking. We are still getting to know each other and trying to see where this goes. We have to be honest with each other. I used to be that guy, moving from one meaningless relationship after another, but it's you I want to be with."
"I want that too." I squeezed his hand back. "But I'm not ready to share this, us. You and me and whatever this is between us with anyone yet. Like you said, we are still getting to know each other, seeing where it goes and we need to be able to do that without everyone watching us. We already had people talking and it was a huge distraction. I just don't want to have to deal with that while this is so new."
"So you're not going to say anything to Courtney?" He laughed.
"Nooo. I wasn't planning on it, but she's going to figure it out. She always does. I swear she knows me better than I know myself and she can read me like a book." I groaned.
"Chase wasn't very happy with me when he found out we hooked up."
"Why not?" I asked. Chase had never said anything to me.
"Because he basically told me to walk away the first time I saw you. He said I was the last thing you needed."
"Well, That may have been true then, but now I think you're exactly what I need. We'll figure it out."
So here we are, at his house, sitting on his couch and I'm stuffing my face with Chick-Fil-A, while his super sweet dog, who we picked up along the way stared at me pleadingly.
"I'm sorry sweet boy, but I don't share my nuggets with anyone." I laughed, then swatted Ryan's hand as he tried to sneak one. "Not even your dad." I teased.
"He should know better. He knows I don't feed him fast food. It's not good for him. Go on Sturgill eat your own food and stop giving Sam the sad puppy dog eyes." He patted the dog on the head, and Sturgill walked over to his own bed and laid down.
"Such a good boy." I laughed, then held out one of my nuggets for Ryan.
"I thought you didn't share your nuggets." He said, then took it from my fingers with his teeth, his tongue removing the residue of the nugget from my fingertips and sending a little shiver up my spine. I couldn't practically feel the electricity between us.
