HENRY POV:
After the conversation with our mother due to the fact that the boy was going to be part of our family for some time, our father arrived with lunch for everyone and after helping him to prepare tables in the control room.
I notice our parents' reticence when adopting this child, as we might not react very well to the news there, but the truth is that both me and Dawn realized that it was the attitude that should have been taken by our parents. This child could not be in better hands and Dawn and I will do everything to help him and to help our parents take care of him.
This lunch also served to socialize and to start creating affective bonds with the boy, who at first was a little scared, which was totally understandable because it is not every day that we are surrounded by complete strangers, but for the middle of the lunch, we all realized that he was already more comfortable with us.
After my lunch hour ended, I left STAR Labs in the company of my dear sister and headed towards the CCPD to end my shift. When I got there, Amy was just eating her sandwich, which was purchased from the vending machines we had here and she barely saw me, got up and came to me.
- You left suddenly. It's all right? Did something happen?
I ended up telling her briefly what happened at STAR Labs today and she seemed incredulous at everything I told her.
- Wow, seriously, your parents are fantastic. I honestly don't know many people who would do the same as they did.
- Yeah, they really are! I think I got a nice raffle in the family department. - I said smiling looking at the picture I had of my parents and my sister on my desk.
- Don't doubt that for a second. But how is the boy doing?
- Confused, quite scared but it looks better at least when we left, he was more comfortable with us.
- And he doesn't remember anything? Nor who are the parents? Not even your own name?
- Nothing at all! Harry said that the trauma he suffered from the fire must have been the cause of that memory loss, but we still don't know when and if it will return.
- Well, that sucks! But at the same time he goes to a family that will help him in whatever is necessary.- said Amy smiling.
- There it is true and I even think it will be fun to have a younger brother. I know that Dawn is younger than me and I adore her with my whole being, but with a guy I can connect in different ways.
- I understand, it's different. And do you already know where he will sleep? I mean, your house has no more rooms available.
- We had a chat and we thought it was good for him to come to sleep in my room. We have the storage room that we could turn into a room for him, but at least in the early days it is better that he feels accompanied. And my room is big enough for both of you!
- Very well, you are being very understanding and mature in the face of this situation. Many boys your age would not like to share their personal space with someone else.
- Maybe, but you know that I was never like the other boys my age! - I exclaimed smiling and she returned his smile.
- Allen and Richards, I need you both in a coffee shop robbery near the mall. Your partner Phillips has already been to the place.- said the captain and I went to get my equipment.
In all cases that exist in the CCPD, we are always attentive to whether or not there is involvement of the metahuman hand. When this possibility exists, we always put STAR Labs personnel on alert if I ever need their help. However, this was not the case as the assailants had already registered in the CCPD database.
These assailants, unlike many others, were very stupid, as they were caught in the surveillance cameras of the cafe, that is, I didn't even have to do anything except pick up fingerprints.
I went back to the CCPD alone because Amy and her colleague were interrogating the witnesses and my services were no longer needed at the crime scene, so I went back to my laboratory at the CCPD and analyzed the fingerprints.
As expected, the results said that the fingerprints I took were from the owner of the cafe, from some people who were there for coffee and from the assailant in the video from the surveillance camera. I wrote my report and printed three copies, one for me to put on my case cover, another to give to Amy and the third to give to our captain.
The rest of the afternoon was a little boring because we didn't have any more cases that needed my help, so I spent most of the time washing, cleaning and organizing the materials I use in the laboratory. Occasionally, some detectives would come and ask me to do soil or substance tests, but nothing too complicated.
My time to leave came quickly so I packed up and went to say goodbye to my best friend.
"What are you going to do tonight?" She asked me as soon as I got to her desk.
- I will stay at home with my family, but why?
- We could go out to dinner, just the two of us. We haven't done a program for just a long time.
- I loved it, but today is the boy's first day at our house and I would like to be there.- I said and his smile faded a little.
- I understand. It is an important moment.
- But we can arrange for tomorrow night. On top of that it's Friday and if I'm not mistaken on Saturday none of us work, that is, we can stay up late.- I said and the smile on Amy's face reappeared.
- It sounds good.
- So see you tomorrow, Ames!
- See you tomorrow! - she exclaimed smiling and I left the CCPD and went to my house.
