6 years later ...
Six years have passed since Ronnie is in our family legally and things have changed a little, but they are still going well. The change that cost me the most was Henry's moving out. Although I think it's normal for the boy to want to go live with his girlfriend and I knew it would happen someday, I never expected it to be this soon.
Things with Dawn are also on track. While she didn't get a job in her area of criminality, she was working with us at STAR Labs, but three months after graduating, she was called for an interview at CCPD and since then she is the new CSI there.
With the years passing by, Ronnie managed to remember parts of his life with his previous family but as he was very young when he came to us, he cannot remember 100% of his past life, however he knows what his story is and sometimes the three of us are going to visit his grandmother on Earth-2. However, he has yet to show signs of having any metahuman power, which means that there are strong chances that he may not have them.
As we were on summer vacation, Ronnie had no class as it was obvious and that is why he came every day with us, except when Henry had time off, which took him for a walk and lunch outside. But today was marked by a bad reason. In the middle of the morning I received a call from an anonymous number. I don't normally answer them, but something told me I had to answer and I did.
- Yes, yes of course ... We will be there. Thank you for letting us know, "I said, hanging up.
- It's everything all right? Who was it? - asked Barry after seeing the change in my expression.
- Edna ... She passed away this morning.- I said putting the phone on the desk and when I turned to look at Cisco, I saw Ronnie standing at the door, with tears falling down his face.
"Grandma ?!" he exclaimed, running to my lap and hugging me.
- Calm down my love. I know it hurts but everything will be fine.- I said, massaging his back, in an attempt to calm him down.
He was on my lap crying for a few minutes but after a while and with some insistence from Barry, he agreed to go with his uncle Ralph to buy an ice cream.
- The ladies of the home called us to tell us that the funeral is tomorrow morning, at eleven.
- How is it possible?! Just last week we were with her and the lady seemed to be fine.- exclaimed Barry.
- They said it was a heart attack.
- If you want you can leave the lab early, - said Harry.
- No, I think it will do Ronnie good to be here, accompanied by all of us. So I always get a little distracted.
- Poor thing, he started remembering it a little while ago and now he loses her this way.- said Cisco.
Twenty minutes Ronnie and Ralph arrived at the control room with ice cream for everyone and after we had eaten them, he was helping Cisco tidy up the inventions room, while the rest of the staff continued their work in the control room. When the time came for us to leave, we packed up and left STAR Labs for our home.
I was just arriving at the entrance when I received a message from Dawn saying that she was not coming to dinner at home, as she was going out with her friends to miss her. As neither of us was in the mood to make dinner, we decided to order two or three pizzas.
Although Ronnie didn't have much of an appetite to eat anything, he made an effort, because he knew that not eating, was no solution and after dinner and some time in the room next to us, he asked me to help him prepare for to sleep. We went to his room, he put on his pajamas and then went to brush his teeth. We went back to his room and helped him to lie down and then I turned off the light in the room and was going to find the door when I hear him.
