POV CAITLIN:
After a very long and boring process, the day had finally come when Ronnie would officially be part of the Snow-Allen family and we couldn't be happier about it. And to celebrate this very important date, we had arranged for our friends to have dinner here at home.
After we had breakfast and picked up our bags and Ronnie's backpack, we left the house with care that it was not to wake up the sleeping Henry. While Barry went to STAR Labs, I went, as usual, to take Ronnie to the kindergarten and then continued my journey to the laboratory.
When I got there, I sat at my desk and opened the computer to start taking a look at the city's surveillance cameras, looking for signs of metahuman activity. However, after yesterday's assault and explosion, the city does not need a metahuman attack, but just a little rest.
We had arranged with the social worker to come by his office after lunch, but in the middle of the morning he called us to say that he preferred to come to STAR Labs because he was going to be in the area. Other than that, our morning was even quiet, for everyone's happiness and at lunchtime, we went to lunch at Jitters.
Today both Wally and Iris joined us and after asking for what we wanted to have lunch, we were waiting for food while we talked about work. After lunch, we still had some time so I thought it was a good idea to go to the donut shop that was close to Jitters and Ralph offered to come with me.
After we had our order in hand, we went back to STAR Labs and put the donuts in a separate room, so that they were only eaten at snack time. It was four o'clock when the social worker, who was a friend of Joe's, arrived at the lab. To leave us alone, Ralph, Harry and Cisco went to the weapons room.
- Well I brought you the missing document and after signing this, you are officially the boy's parents.- said George, taking the papers out of his suitcase and handing them to us.
When we saw the papers, we noticed that one of them asked for family information to be on the cover of the file and we had to write the boy's legal name. I followed my instinct as to the name we would give him and after we both signed everything necessary, we returned the papers to George who just had to see if everything was okay.
- On my part everything is ready, I brought you a copy of your adoption process in case you ever need to show it to someone. I just wanted to warn you that in the first two to three months, you will receive a visit from a social worker, who may be me or one of my colleagues just as a measure of making sure that everything is okay with the child.
"Of course it's understandable," said Barry, smiling.
- I just need to wish you well and good luck for this new stage of your lives.
- Thank you so much for everything George, you were a precious help, - I said smiling as I greeted him.
- It was a pleasure to help you. A good afternoon rest. - George said leaving the laboratory and the rest of the staff returned to our bank.
The rest of the afternoon passed quickly and quietly and it was time to leave the laboratory and go to our homes. I took advantage that Barry had gone to pick up the boy and went shopping for the night. I arrived at the supermarket and took one of the shopping carts that was free and started walking down the aisles.
After having everything in the car, I went to the cash register area and waited for my turn to come. After putting everything in the bags and having paid for the purchases, I put them in the trunk of my car and continued my journey home.
"Who wants to help me get the groceries inside?" I asked, opening the front door and Henry and Ronnie came running over to me.
After we took the shopping inside and put it on the spot, I put some gummys in a bowl and gave it to Ronnie, who was all happy and went with Henry to the living room to finish his homework. It was about an hour before our friends got here, so Barry and I started preparing the entrees and dinner.
Half an hour later the doorbell started to ring and as Barry and I were busy making dinner, Dawn offered to go and open it and it was neither more nor less than Harry, Cisco and his girlfriend.
"Do you need help with anything?" Asked Harry when he came to our side.
- No, we already have everything oriented, you can go sit in the room that Ronnie is watching TV there.
- Since you insist, - said Cisco leaving our side.
Forty minutes after they arrived, all of our friends were already at home and it was time to start dinner. Cisco and Dawn had set the table and Ralph offered to help me bring dinner to the table.
"Are you going to tell us what the little one is called?" Asked Cisco, curious.
- As of today he is called Ronald Spencer Snow-Allen.
- Ronald Spencer? Quirky name.- Iris said smiling.
- We didn't want to take his birth name from him, but I also didn't want to remove the tribute to Ronnie. So why not join the two?!
- You did very well. It's a special name for a special boy, "said Harry, smiling as he looked at Ronnie who was sitting between Henry and Dawn.
- You know, if you need help with the room, you can count on us.- said Joe smiling.
- Thank you guys, seriously thanks for the help you gave us with the process.- Barry said smiling.
The rest of the dinner was spent in conversation and laughter and after dinner, we all went to have coffee at a cafe that was close to our house. As there was a playground next to the cafe, Henry and Dawn took Ronnie to the park to play, while we stayed on the terrace talking.
- And how is he? Has he remembered anything from the past? "Asked Joe.
- Little thing. He has already remembered his grandmother and remembers things they used to do together in the past but still nothing about the incident or his mother.
"And are you going to tell him he's adopted?" Asked Iris.
- When the time is right, yes. Not yet, because he is very young but of course we are going to do it. In fact, he deserves to know the truth!
We stayed here until ten at night and after that each of us went to our home. I helped Ronnie get ready for bed and after making sure he fell asleep, I went to my room, lying down next to my amazing husband.
