Ten years later...
Today it was ten years since Amy and I are married and so I am planning on preparing a romantic dinner, just for the two of us and for that I will need a fundamental help, that of my parents.
I don't know if you know it or not, but four years ago we had the twins, Samatha and Andy and as much as we love them with all of our being, they can sometimes be a little bit annoying. I spoke to my mother and explained the situation to her and she agreed to stay with the twins tonight and I would just have to pick them up tomorrow morning.
Now for the news, about six years ago our CCPD captain retired and today we have a new captain, who is neither more nor less than my uncle Joe West. I got a promotion at CCPD, which consists of fewer hours of field work, but more bureaucracy. However, I have the advantage of being able to assign the cases by my CSIs and I can hire the staff I think is necessary.
In STAR Labs everything remains the same, except that the metahuman prison is now bigger, which means that more cells can fit, which is very good, because there was a time, two years ago that it was almost a metahuman attack a day . And given the lack of cells, my parents and Uncle Cisco chose to increase the area of the metahuman chain.
Another change and the most significant of all is the new relationship between Roger and Ronnie. It seems that two years ag, Ronnie's uncle came to look for him and apologize for his behavior over the years and now they seem to be very close. We were all very happy with this news except for my mother who continues to think that something is not right with this sudden approach.
At this moment I had just left the children with my mother and on the way I stopped at a supermarket to buy everything I would need for tonight, from what I needed to make the recipe that my father gave me and for the aromatic candles. After all my purchases were paid for and in the trunk of my car, I went to my house and started to prepare dinner.
After following all the steps that were written in the recipe, I started to prepare the room for the surprise. I lit some candles, put some red rose petals on the living room floor and made a small arrangement to put in the center of the table. I was setting up the table when I heard the entrance door open.
- Love, I got home.- Amy said when she reached my side and only after putting her suitcase on the sofa did she notice how the room was doing.- Well, you did your best!
- All for my beautiful wife. You are just finishing a fantastic dinner and we have the house to ourselves, so we could enjoy dating.
- And what did you do to the children? Don't tell me you locked them up in the room?
- Do you think so? No, I left them with my parents.
- So I get more rested. So, I think I'm going to take a quick shower and then we could start this wonderful dinner that you cooked.
"It seems like an excellent idea," I said, going to the kitchen while Amy went up the stairs.
I went to see how the food was doing and at least because of the smell it seemed that I had all the steps right and that made me very happy. I turned off the stove and took the food to the table while I waited for Amy to come down the stairs.
- Hmm it smells really good.- Amy said walking down the stairs and sitting down in one of the chairs.
"I hope it tastes as good as it smells," I whispered to myself.
"But this is delicious," said Amy taking a first bite of her food.
- I'm glad you like my love.
After we finished eating, she helped me wash the dishes and after we had everything done, we went to the living room.
- Now there is only one thing missing.- I said, turning on the music system and putting on the music we had at our wedding.- Does the lady dance?
"Yes, I do," said Amy, accepting my hand.
As far as our evening is concerned, I can say that it was a success and as we just had to pick up the twins tomorrow morning, we could take the opportunity to date some more. In the morning I woke up with the alarm clock and after getting dressed, I went to have breakfast. After leaving the house, I quickly went to my parents' house to pick up the kids and then I had to take them to school, to go on to the CCPD, which was waiting for me another day of work to sign paperwork.
- Did they give you a lot of work?
- Nothing that we couldn't control.- replied my mother smiling as she handed me the kids and their backpacks.- And did your night go well?
- Yes, it was good to have the house to ourselves.
- Yes, children are very beautiful and adorable but they are a lot of work.
- Don't tell me anything. Now I understand what you and dad have been through with us all these years.
- We had some adventures, but it was all worth it.
"And did you have fun with your grandparents and Uncle Ronnie?"
- Yes.- replied Andy smiling.
- And we were with Mr. Roger.- Samantha said, playing with her doll.
- I didn't know he was coming to dinner here.
- Yeah, neither do I ... But he came along with Ronnie.
- I still don't understand why you don't like him. Okay, he was a bit rude in the past, but he seems to have changed.
- Yeah ... It seems ... He may have changed, but there is something about him that doesn't give me security. I'm not sure what yet, but I'll find out.
- Well, I would love to continue the conversation, but I have to take them to school and then I have to go to the CCPD. But at the end of the afternoon I pass by STAR Labs.
- Okay, everyone, have a good day, - said my mother saying goodbye and closed the entrance door.
I helped the boys to get in the car and after putting the backpacks with the clothes in the trunk of the car, we took off and made our way to their school and then followed my way to the CCPD.
When I got there, Amy had already left to go to a crime scene, so I went straight to my office. I spent practically all morning just looking at resumes and still had enough to check, so I called my mom and asked Ronnie to go to school, come by and bring me something to eat.
