Chapter 23

Calithea's POV

I wake up to an empty bed and I don't know why but I'm glad.

I then reach for my phone and text Jalissa asking her about where she wants to go look for a dress but she responds telling me she went with Danniel.

So early in the morning?

I then head to my room to wash up while jamming to Summer Walker's hit songs.

It's my birthday today but it doesn't feel that way.

I just want a hug from Danniel.I'll feel better...I know it.

When I'm done I wear shorts and a baggy t-shirt.

My hair is lose.

I'm starving so I head down to the kitchen for something to eat.

When I enter the kitchen there's balloons everywhere and a huge cake on the counter wishing me a happy birthday.It also says *We're sorry*

Carlos and Danniel can be sweet when they want to be.

"Hey."Carlos appears wearing shorts.

"Hi."I genuinely smile.

"How'd you sleep?"He asks scratching the back of his neck.

"Carlos..."

"Calithea I'm sorry about everything that happened yesterday.Today's your birthday though so can we please focus on making it your best one ever...?"

I nod and thank him for the wonderful morning surprise.

"We'll talk about everything tomorrow."I smile.

"Okay.Now come here."He smiles and opens his arms for me to hug him.

"Happy birthday mamas."He whispers filling my stomach with butterflies.

I make us breakfast and we enjoy it while watching an episode of Jane the virgin.I forced him to watch the first season with me and now he's obsessed with the show.

"I invited Nathen to the party."I finally say as I clear the table.

He takes a deep breath before answering and says, "Okay.I just want you to be happy today.If him being here is what you want then okay."

He then stands from his seat and says he's going to take a shower.

"Okay."I answer smiling.

A while afterwards Danniel and Lissa walk through the front door laughing.

When his eyes land on me he drops his car keys and runs towards me picking me up and holding me tight.

"You okay?"He whispers.

"Yeah."

"Are we okay?"

"Yeah.As long as you promise to stop hiding things from me."

"Deal."

I know he's still going to hide things from me.It's part of the whole overprotective brother package.

"Where's Carlos?"Jalissa asks.

"Shower."

"You guys alright?"She asks making Danniel do the same studying my facial expression.

"Yeah we are."

"Good!"She cheers.

"What dress did you get?"

"Danniel chose it.It's a short pink body hugging dress."

"He's got taste.I'm sure you'll look stunning."

"Thanks Cals.Alright I'm going to get some decorations so I'll be gone for a short while."She says grabbing her car keys.

"See you later."Danny and I say in unison.

I then grab some frozen yogurt from the fridge and sit on the couch.

Danny grabs one for himself and joins me.

"Hey Danny,if your parents were able to get Nathen relocated,does that mean he knows about everything?"

"Of course not.It was a clean deal.Remember,my family has a lot of clean businesses."He winks making me smile.

"Okay."

"I invited Nathen to the party."

He shoots me a deadly glare and asks, "Does Carlos..."

"Yes he knows and he's okay with it."

"No he's not."He says directing his focus onto the tv.

"He said he was."

"And you believed him?"
