"I'm sorry for such the short notice. But I hope everything goes well."

"It's alright. Thank you." Neville nodded, and rushed to his next class.

"I don't know why you didn't snap at him, that was a dick move."

"Don't be foul, I'm sure something just came up."

"Please. Neville just stands around. He's got nothing to do."

"Then why would he cancel?"

"Because men suck."

"I thought you were with Ron?"

"Ya, he sucked for a while too."

"So men can change?"

"Ya, but they can still suck."

"Luna, where are you off to?"

"The lake."

"But, it's your birthday. Do you not want to spend time with us?"

"No. Thank you for the offer though." The trio stood, watching the ravenclaw skip down the moving stairs.

"Just leave her be, it's the girls birthday. She does as she please." Ron shrugged, dragging his feet to the Gryffindor common room.

You swirled the potion around in your bottle, a bitter taste instantly struck you. When that settled down, a terrible burning sensation overwhelmed you. Tomorrows night held a full moon, and you planned on hiding away in the Forbidden Forest til you turned back. But until then, you wondered around the edge of the Black Lake, occasionally kicking a rock into it. A twig snapping kicked up your instincts, your head snapping up to the noise.

"I'm sorry if I startled you." The figure muttered, stepping out of the dark. Luna Lovegood stood in front of you, flustered.

"It's fine." You continued down the path, feeling Luna's presence behind you. "You can join me if you'd like. I don't bite."

"I've heard the rumors."

"Oh. Alright then. Happy birthday Luna."

"Hold on a second. I didn't say I didn't want to join you."

"Well you said you heard the rumors. I'd assume you wouldn't want to spend time with a disgusting beast anyway."

"That's not true. I think you're quiet interesting."

"Really? That's a fun way to put it."

"I'm serious. Werewolves are much more interesting than boring witches and wizards."

"If you insist Lovegood. Now what are you doing out here all by yourself?"

"Taking a stroll. And yourself?"

"As well." The two of you walked in silence, and you contemplated on asking her why she was alone on her birthday.

"I had plans today, but Neville flaked out on me the last second."

"How did you-"

"Your expression, I could tell you wanted to ask me something. I just assumed what it was."

"Neville's not a good match anyway. Consider yourself lucky."

"Still hurts I suppose."

"I suppose." A tense silence fell between you both, and the you didn't know how to break it. Luckily the ravenclaw swooped in before you could say something to embarrass yourself.

"Would you like to join me? I had planned a picnic with Neville, the baskets up in my room."

"Of course." Luna nodded, and took your hand, leading you back to the castle.
