Jide

I kissed Ireti last night but it was not enough to drive the nightmares away. I woke up with a pounding headache, dreading the fight I had with my father the previous night. The scene where Ireti embraced me comforting me flashed through my eyes and I smiled.

I kissed Ireti last night.

That was the sentence that kept ringing in my head, reminding me that I was loosing my guard. The smile disappeared. I had never made a move on anyone before, the only move I remember making was in primary four when I sent a love letter to Chika my crush on valentines day. Asides that, nothing else had occurred. The ladies were the ones who always threw themselves at me but last night everything changed because I Olajide Oluitan made the first move on a girl and I knew deep down I liked every bit of it but I was convincing myself that I didn't and it was just a spur of the moment but I had wanted to kiss her for a while. I wanted to know every inch of her lips and tongue.

It was crazy how much I was enjoying sharing my space with Ireti when to me two had always been a crowd.

As I drove to work I made a mental note to push Ireti as far as possible from me before I hurt her or hurt me. Some people were destined to spend their lives with other people but I from the on set was destined to spend mine with solitude and the last thing I would do was drag Ireti down deep into this darkness with me.

When I got to the office my secretary rushed to me.

"Good morning sir" she greeted, panicked.

"Morning Mercy, is everything alright?"

"No sir. We lost the contract with the Rage group. Apparently the deadline to submit the signed documents to them was yesterday"

Rage group was a big client and it counted as one of our biggest losses and it was going to reflect on our report during the end of the year general board meeting. Another thing for my father to fixate on.

My head was already pounding from the nightmare and the struggle with Ireti.

"How didn't that document get to me and who was in charge of that project!" I yelled which made Mercy back up a little.

"Ireti sir" she replied.

Oh great!

"Tell her to see me in my office immediately" I said and stormed off to my office.

Ireti came in few minutes after I entered. She was wearing a red fitted dress that stopped just above her knee. Her face looked relaxed. She was dazzling.

"Hi, Mercy said you called for me?" She spoke so casually to me.

"Good morning Miss Alabi" I greeted, more of a correction.

"Okay, good morning sir" she smiled.
It took all my willpower to drag my eyes from her lips.

"How are you feeling today, did you have any night..."

"My personal life is none of your business" I interrupted in a harsh tone.

Her eyebrows furrowed to show her confusion.

"I just..."

"Who was in charge of the rage group project?"

"Me"

"Why didn't the document get to them on time?"

"I was going to give it to you but every time was a bad time. I drove to your house with the..."

"Miss Alabi always with the excuses. You lost us a big client. How do I deal with this incompetence?" I raised my voice a little.

It was killing me to do this but something inside kept pushing me to do it.
