   Ireti

"I like you" Jide said.

The world paused and I could hear his words echo repeatedly in my head.

"What did you just say?" I asked breathless.

"I like you" he repeated more of a question.

I became tongue tied.

"Ireti" he called.

"Ireti"

"Hey, I was just joking" he laughed.

"What?" I exclaimed.

"I was just pulling your legs, you've been ignoring me for a while now but see this made you talk to me" he explained.

I raised my brows.

"You should have seen the look on your face" he giggled.

"Ha ha ha, very funny" I said sarcastically.

I didn't know why I got angry but I did.

"Take me home now" I ordered.

"Ireti, I didn't mean to...."

"Take me home now" I repeated, my eyes fixated on the windshield.

"Are you mad?" He asked.

Yes, I was so mad but I couldn't tell him that because he would ask why I was mad but I didn't know why I was mad but that joke was too expensive.

"No" I replied.

"You seem mad"

"I am not mad Mr Oluitan. Can you please take me home now" The anger was present in my voice

His phone rang. He glanced at me then picked up.

"Hello, Sandra" he spoke to the person on the other end of the phone.

The name sounded familiar. I tried to recall where I heard it and then it clicked. Sandra was the girl Dunnie was teasing Jide about when I had dinner with them.

After realizing this, I became more interested in the conversation.

"What" he exclaimed and my heart skipped a bit.

What happened?

"I understand, I'll be right there, give me few minutes" he said and hung up.

"Ireti..."

"Miss Alabi" I corrected.

He frowned.

"Miss Alabi, can I stop at a friend's place first before I take you home?" He politely asked.

I had to go home but I wanted to see what Sandra looked like and I needed to know what that phone call was about.

"No problem" I responded.

The drive to Sandra's house was short, he parked his car in their garage.
