Trying

After work Kayla and I went out for dinner in Lodi, just to decompress. She once again, told me I should leave but at this point Tony wasn't taking my calls and I emailed the school, and my spot was taken and to try again next year. After dinner I dropped her off and went home. Last week I moved out of my moms and into my own one-bedroom apartment right off main street. I unlocked the door and walked in and saw a table full of food

'You're late." I jumped and turned to see Happy standing up off of my couch

"What are you doing here? How did you get in here?" I asked

"Gemma gave me the spare key." He said and I rolled my eyes, I knew I should've given Kayla the spare

"What's all of this?" I asked pointing to the table

"I wanted to do something nice for you to say...I'm sorry." He grunted

"Gemma helped you do all of this?" I asked already knowing the answer

"Does that matter? I don't do this often, but I will admit I fucked up."

"I already ate and- "

"Just listen! I don't do emotions and I've never had an old lady. I don't really know what you've done to me, but I can't get you out of my mind. I'm willing to learn if you give me a chance."'

"If I give you a chance you can't do what you did today, Oswald's is my job."

"Why were you talking to Hale?"

"Because he's dating my friend, I don't see him as an enemy because of his job."

"Fine." He said

"Fine?"

"Don't push it, I didn't say I liked it,"

"Why would you just leave me like that?"

"Club stuff, I had to go back to Tacoma, that's still my charter."

"Look that night meant something to me, you took my virginity and I'm not even sure if I was ready and then I wake up and you were gone. Leaving me feeling like I was nothing or some crow eater."

"Don't ever call yourself that, you mean so much more to me than them bitches." He said then kissed me and I kissed back

"How would this work, if you're in Tacoma and I'm here?" I asked and he smirked

"You come to Tacoma." He said and I opened my mouth, but he stopped me

"When you're ready." He added

I thought about the way things went the past few weeks, everything seemed to be falling apart and here he was offering another path so I nodded I could do this I hope

"Ok, we can take things slow." I said and he kissed me again

Six Months Later

"Are you really sure about this?' Kayla asked me again and I laughed then nodded

"Yes! Things with Happy and I have been going great and it's only right that we take the next step." I told her

Today I was moving to Tacoma with Happy, she was hesitant, but I had a good feeling about this and the only thing that was holding us back at this point was the distance

"Well don't forget I'm only one phone call away." She said and I hugged her

'I know mom." I teased

"No if I was, your mom I would have made you rethink that." She said pointing to the brand-new crow tattoo on right breast.

"Please it was a dream come true for her."

"I just want to make sure you're doing for you and not for her." She said

"I am I swear, I'm happy." I said honestly

"Ok, so when do you start the new job?" She asked and I smiled

"Next week I'm so excited." I said

I got a job at Microsoft as the lead systems engineer, and I also signed up for the master's program at University of Seattle, and Happy was being very supportive to my surprise.

"Hey baby, you ready?" My mom asked from the doorway

"Yeah, is Happy here?' I asked and she nodded

"Yeah, I'll send the prospect to get the rest of these bags." She said

"I'll go help them start loading the truck." Kayla said leaving me and my mom

I got stood up and my mom pulled me into a hug

"I'm so happy for you baby." She said then kissed my cheek and I felt myself asking the question I had been keeping to myself

"Mom can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Are you going to come visit me?"

"Of course, just call and I'll be there."

"And you'll call me?"

"Yeah where is this coming from?"

"It's just been bugging me a little that you couldn't be this happy when I went to school." I said and she frowned

"Are you still upset about that?"

"It's not really something I can just forget; I just don't understand how this is any different."

"You're not leaving the family baby girl; you're turning into a great old lady." She said I held back an eye roll she was a master at subject changing, I forced a smile I just always wanted her to see that I can be more than just an old lady. I think I'm finally realizing that she just doesn't care, Gemma's way or the highway, a very conditional love.

"I should go make sure they don't break anything." I said pulling away from her

It was a very long 12-hour drive once we made it. We got to our apartment and did a little unpacking before calling it a night.

The following night we were at the Tacoma clubhouse they were throwing a party for Jax, Opie, and Bobby who made the trip up with us. So, I was getting to know the place and the people in it, I've met a few old ladies. Kelly who was the president's old lady, Melissa Quinn's old lady we are teaching me the ropes around here

"How are you liking it?" Kelly asked me and I looked around, but I froze when I saw Happy off in the corner with a big tit blonde pushing up on him

"You need to go handle that." Melissa said and I looked at her I'm a nerd I'm not a fighter. I looked over again Happy wasn't reacting, but she was practically in his lap

"But he's not doing anything."

"It's not about the man, it's about those skanks they need to know their place. They want to be you and will take any chance they can get." Kelly said and I looked between them and I got up and walked over

"Happy?" I said and the girl shot me a dirty look

"He's busy, so move along." She said shooing me

I don't really know what came over me, but I grabbed her by her hair and flung her to the ground, then I kicked her in the side

"Keep your hands off my man!" I snapped as Happy wrapped his arms around me

"That was fucking hot." He said in my ear and I turned to face him

"I want to go home." I said then kissed him
