"Hey, Brittany?"
"Quinn?"
"Where are the cheerleading tryouts held again?"
"Oh, in the gym! I can take you, I need to report to the captain anyway."
"Thanks."
As the two girls made their way to the gym, Brittany kept the conversation going, asking Quinn about her cheerleading experience, her family, her life.
They neared the entrance of a gigantic gymnasium, seemingly equipped to welcome the Olympics. Outside stood a giant human-throwing cannon, that Quinn didn't bother asking about.
Brittany showed Quinn to the changing rooms, and told her to enter the gym when she finished switching clothes.
Then she pivoted gracefully and disappeared inside.
Quinn hurried out of her school outfit, adrenaline pulsing through her veins as she thought of the challenge ahead. Okay. Focus. High-V. Pike jump. Round-off. Back handspring. Layout. Round-off. Backhandspring. Full. High-V.
The blonde took a deep breath, brushed her fingers against her skirt one last time, before exhaling and exiting the changing rooms.
The gym seemed even bigger from the inside than it had from the outisde.
A dais had been set up, with a huge desk on top of it. Seated at the desk, regally, were two feminine figures that Quinn couldn't quite make out, due to the projectors' lights blinding her.
A long and miscellaneous queue stretched in front of her, made of either athletic girls eager to claim their place on the team, or scrawny boys taking their turn to ridicule themselves, or even amateurs in jeans trying out for "fun".
Well, this is going to be entertaining.
Indeed, entertaining it was. Some of the contestants ended up tripping over themselves, some tried very unsuccessfully to perform their excuse of a cartwheel, and some girl ripped her jeans in the middle of her splits.
Some of them still were decent enough, well-prepared and serious about cheerleading.
At one point, Quinn simply got lost in her thoughts.
However, as her turn came and she neared the center of the stage, she finally was able to look the jury in the eyes.
And of course, calling her name and inviting her to start, seated at the desk like royalty watching her court, was the infamous Santana Lopez, captain of the cheerleading team.
"Next one! Quinn Fabray!"
A.N.
Heyo! Long time no see! This is an apology chapter. Next one is coming soon ;)
I also feel like I need to address Naya's death. She was a wonderful actress, and gave life to Santana's character better than anyone could have. Nobody should die as such a young age. May she rest in peace.
Thanks again for reading,
take care,
