Ren's POV
Last night was rough. I wasn't able to sleep. I had these terrible dreams of Calla marrying Luca and having this perfect warrior family. Meanwhile, I was either left to die alone or miserable and married to Zena. As much as I hated the idea of Calla and Luca she is my best friend, I have to respect her decision. Plus she would never leave the clan for some guy. So I still get to see her and unfortunately Luca. But I could keep an eye on them. All the clans were leaving this morning around mid- morning. So my father and I had to be up and see them off safely.
" Why didn't you take a girl's flower? Do you want to end up alone? What happens when I am dead and your the leader? You will need a successor!" Father's lecture this morning was one I have heard a thousand times, so I didn't really listen as we walked over to the camps to wish the clans safe travels. It wasn't till he said Calla's name that he got my attention. " Wait what about Calla?" I looked at him and he just gave me an unreadable look. " I said, at least Calla is doing something about her future." Before I could ask him to elaborate we made it to the camp sight. Almost all the clans were packed up and were about to start their journey home.
Walking closer I had to do a double take. And what my eyes saw made my gut twist. No! No! No this can't be happening! Calla was standing next to Luca a travel bag on her back and Delax by her side. She was leaving. How could she leave and not even tell me?! I am not sure what happened next as all I saw was red in a flash of my anger.
Calla's POV
" How fucking dare you?! You didn't even tell me! That's fucked up Calla! So much for loyalty!" Ren shouts in my face. I know I was wrong for not telling him I was leaving, but he is not my father I shouldn't have to ask permission from him. I expected some hurt feelings, but he should have still been happy for me. " So much for loyalty! Are you kidding me?!?! YOU ARE NOT MY FATHER REN! I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU SHIT OR ASK FOR YOUR PERMISSION!!!" Delax growled at Ren which was a first. Ren was looking me up and down his nostrils flaring. Before I could say anything else Luca stepped between us.
" Ren calm down. I asked her to go. This was her choice and she is free to leave whenever she likes. I'm.." Ren hits Luca square in the jaw before he can finish his sentence. Marcuis quickly runs over and pushes Ren away telling him to go walk it off. Ren sent me a look I couldn't forget. He looked sorry, but had a look of longing and pain. He walked away as Luca got up wiping blood from his lip. Marcuis spoke quickly trying to calm down the situation " Forgive me about my son, he is just.... protective of Calla." Luca nodded and I looked down as Marcuis walked off saying goodbye to everyone else.
" I am sorry about Ren. This is my fault. I should have told him I was leaving." I was expecting for Luca to yell at me or even change his mind. What I didn't expect is for him to kiss me. " It's okay Calla. Are you ready? It's a three days travel back to Redkin." I just nodded I lost my voice to speak. This was not the morning I had planned for. And with that I walked with Luca and his clan back to Redkin.
~ Three days later ~
Calla's POV
Redkin was very similar to Norse, so I am sure I would fit in fine. Delax seemed to like it too and was off exploring the woods. Luca insisted I stay with him, I think it is too soon for that but he begged. And well he is a cute beggar. I was in his den and I put down my bag in the corner. I was tired from all the walking and went to lay down in his bed. I covered myself in his bear skin blanket and fell asleep quickly.
Luca's POV
Refiner wanted to see me when we got back. So when we got back I showed Calla where my den was and told her to make herself comfortable. " I just want to make sure that what happened with Ren won't happen again. Marcuis promised his son will be in check from here on out. I just want to make sure you have no bad blood with Ren." Refiner was always making sure to stay in good stance with allies. And I understood that, you never know when you may need to call on an ally. " Of course! And no there is no bad blood here. I understand Calla's importance to him and it was just a misunderstanding. Refiner dismissed me and I walked back to the den. I was hoping to show Calla around the village, but when I got to the den she was in my bed asleep. God she is so beautiful. I kiss her lightly on the forehead not wanting to wake her. I leave the den and heads into the woods to attend to some matters.
Ren's POV
Calla has been gone for three days now. And I have been living in hell for three days. I could barely sleep, I couldn't taste the food I ate, I had no motivate to train, my focus to hunt was gone. I couldn't even sleep with women. I was just gone. Hunt tried to cheer me up, but he couldn't. The only thing that could cheer me up was Calla's smile. To hear her tease me as we trained. She was apart of my everyday life and now she was gone. She probably hates me after hitting Luca. But he wasn't sorry. The bastard was smirking as he went to say the words.
Sitting underneath a tree me and Calla would climb when we were kids. I just thought about all the things I could have done if I recognized my feelings for her sooner. My mother Iris sits down next to me. And rubs my shoulder. " She will return my little one. You two are destined for each other. For a love like yours will be written in the stars." Mother's words brought little comfort. She didn't know the future. All she had was hope.... and I guess that's all I have as well. " I hope so mother."
Author's Note: Sorry for the shorter chapters. I wanted them to be a little shorter as we pick up further into the story they will get longer. Also since I uploaded three chapters today I did not want to overwhelm my readers. Please vote and comment! ❤
