katherine walks into the charms class, slipping into a seat at the back as she usually does. she puts her books down and sighs slightly as realises that Professor Flitwick wasn't here yet, so she wasn't running late. and the sound of echoing laughter in the hallways, let her know that she wasn't even the last one to arrive. the laughter dies down and turns into soft chuckles as she can imagine the four mischievous boys coming in. she looks down at her books to see what the lesson today would be. she doesn't even notice the chair next to her moving until it's too late.
"good morning princess." she looks up and glares at sirius, who is smirking at her. she slams her books shut and tries to stand up to leave, knowing that sitting anywhere else was better than next to him. but unfortunately for her, he forces her to stay. "oh, not so fast. where are you going?"
"anywhere but next to you. so let go of me." she snarls, making him chuckle as she tries to pull her wrist from his grip, but it only tightens, not enough to hurt her only just enough for her to be unable leave. "don't make me curse you, sirius."
"you wouldn't dare. and risk loosing points for the house? look, flitwick is here. what do you think he'll do if he sees you curse me." sirius says tauntingly as he nods in the direction of the charms master, who indeed just arrived. she slowly lowers herself back down on her seat as she didn't want to pull his attention to them. sirius smiles victoriously. "i knew you had some sense in you, princess."
"don't talk to me." she snaps, and he once again just chuckles at her. flitwick starts explaining that now that they're in their sixth year, it's time for them to learn non-verbal spells.
"feeling feisty today are we?" sirius asks barely above a whisper, and she simply rolls her eyes as she tries to pay attention to the professor. "this class is boring."
"not my problem. don't you have a line up of girls, who actually want to have you sitting with them?" she hisses, making a smirk form on his features and he leans back in the wooden chair.
"you're jealous." he states strongly, making her turn to look at him in disbelief. she couldn't believe he'd even think of that for a second.
"you wish i were. but i could never be jealous of anyone. i have everything i want and more." she snaps, making him raise an eyebrow questioningly.
"miss avery and mister black, is there anything you'd like to share with the class?" flitwick cuts their conversation short, making them turn to look at the professor and see that everyone was looking at them. severus gave katherine a questioning look and she shakes her head slightly to assure him nothing was wrong.
"no, professor. i was just making sure sirius understood the material." katherine gives a fake smile, making the professor huff and nod, before going back to the lesson. for the rest of the class, the two say nothing to each other and pay attention to the lesson. as soon as they're dismissed, katherine is the first to rush out, making sure to not even give him a second of her time. sirius stayed back a bit, waiting for his three friends.
"what was that about?" remus asks him, and he simply shrugs.
"just messing with her." sirius says nonchalantly, making remus raise an eyebrow, as james snickers.
"you seem to have annoyed her quite a bit."
