"okay do you have any idea what she's planning?" remus asks as they all walk towards the house. sirius shrugs, just as clueless as his friends. all he knew was that katherine had insisted on staying back instead of going with sirius to go get their friends, saying she had a surprise for them. since they had left hogwarts and the couple had settled in their new home, it had become tradition that after every full moon, remus was to come have dinner with them to simply relax and forget the events of the previous night. of course james and lily joined them.

"maybe she's going to propose." james suggests, making sirius look at him in worry.

"but i want to be the one proposing. i already bought the ring." sirius whines, making james snort and lily smile softly.

"she's not proposing, she would have told me if she was." lily assures sirius, who lets out a breath of relief.

"but now you're sworn to secrecy, lils. you can't tell her." sirius says pointedly and she nods in agreement.

"anyway, i'm hungry. so let's go inside? before sirius starts to think katherine is announcing she's pregnant." remus says teasingly, but sirius' eyes widen in panic and before he can say anything, the door swings open to reveal katherine with a wide grin.

"are you pregnant?" sirius blurts out, making her grin turn into confusion as remus facepalms and lily sighs. james can't help but snicker.

"what?" katherine asks in confusion and her boyfriend looks at her expectingly. "what in merlin's beard have you done james?"

"hey! don't blame me! this time it's remus' fault." james says, and remus shrugs innocently as katherine sighs.

"well, are you?" sirius asks and she just rolls her head. without them noticing she puts a spell on a journal for it swat sirius over the head.

"get in you bloody fool, before you end up sleeping in the dog house." katherine grumbles and shakes her head, opening the door wider to let everyone in. "and no i'm not pregnant."

"so, what have you got planned? you're not proposing, not pregnant? what then?" james asks, making katherine shake her head with an amused smile as she closes the door.

"well, why don't you go look into the dining room." she says happily, making them all look at each other before doing as she says. as they all walk in the living room, they are shocked by the sight. lily gasps happily, while james gets excited and remus smiles appreciatively. sirius looks at katherine in amazement and pure joy, making her smile up at him. before them on the table lay all sorts of delights that reminded them of hogwarts, and the table was nicely decorated.

"merlin's beard, katherine. this amazing." lily gushes, making katherine beam happily as a blush rises to her cheeks. "how did you do all of this all alone?"

"magic." she winks at her best friend, who snorts and shakes her head.

"padfoot, marry this girl before someone else does." remus says excitedly and sirius looks at her with a wide grin.

"i will. don't worry about that." sirius grins, making her blush deep even more.

"so what's the occasion?" james asks with a happy smile as they all take a seat. katherine is sitting between remus and sirius, with james between lily and sirius.

"well, the past two months have been a little overwhelming, with regulus. and the prophecy. so i thought, i'd treat us to a lovely dinner and i tried to copy the hogwarts dinner to remind us of easier times." katherine answers and her friends smile happily at her.

"you're truly the best. this is amazing. you're amazing. i love you, you're my best friend. you deserve the world." james says, making her snicker as sirius rolls his eyes in amusement.

"i thought i was your best friend." sirius muses as he raises an eyebrow and james gives him a look.

"you were downgraded the moment katherine became one of us." james says sassily and sirius hits him playfully.

"i hate them." remus says to the two girls, who giggle.

"no. you don't. but they can definitely be a pain in the ass." lily admits as she shakes her head at the two boys, who are still playfully arguing.
