it's absolutely dark when she slips out of bed and glances at sirius, who is still peacefully asleep. she is more than grateful for his ability to sleep through anything right now as she goes into the bathroom and slips on the clothes she had laid there earlier that day. as she checks her appearance in the mirror, she can't help but sigh. her eyes reminded her of her mother and the curve of her nose was her father's.

she takes a deep breath and shakes her head, before walking out of the bathroom. she stops at the edge of the bed and smiles softly. she makes her way downstairs to the living room, takes out a paper and quickly scribbles a note for when he wakes up.

my love, if you're reading this either i'm not back yet or something worse has happened. unfortunately i can't tell yet. i hope you'll find it in you to forgive me for what i'm about to do. joseph has escaped azkaban and he's coming for us, or more specifically me. i won't let him hurt you, lily james, remus or harry in any possible way. so i've decided to go find him and put an end to his madness, whether it means his death or mine. minerva advised me against this, but there was no stopping me. it is one thing to hurt me, but hurting anyone i love is a completely different story. and i love you, sirius. more than you can imagine. which is why i have to do this.

she folds the paper in half and places it on the table in the middle of the room. she bites her lip, before walking out of the house. she already had a feeling as to where he'd would be waiting for her to meet and without hesitating, she apparates to the cemetery where their mother had been buried. she lets out a gasp as she looks around the dark cemetery, making chills run up her back.

normally, angelina avery should have been buried in the family tomb, but her father had found that no disgrace like her mother should be put in there. therefore angelina had been put in a muggle cemetery. she makes her way past all the other graves, not caring about them as she sees the silhouette of her brother standing in front of her mother's grave.

"it's a shame really, if you ask me. mother was a uniquely powerful witch. she'd have been a great asset." joseph muses as he senses her approaching, before turning around and smirking at her. "i thought you'd never come."

"you're a threat to my family. i wasn't going to let you roam around freely." katherine snarls as she pulls her wand out, making him snicker.

"ah, sister. does he know? that you're carrying his child?" he asks tauntingly and she looks at him in shock. she couldn't help but wonder how he knew when she had only recently found out.

"no. i haven't. how do you know?" she snarls, making him chuckle and shake his head.

"does it matter. it's unfortunate that the child might not see the light of day now. you're just as weak as mother was." joseph says, making her scoff and shake her head. "i always knew you were weak, but father said you had potential. unfortunately you obliviated him pretty good, because he won't accept anything."

"he never will. you were always just a lying asshole. you know what this is about? it's not about me not becoming a death eater. this is you jealous of me. after all dad and mom loved me more, so you had to become a death eater to get dad's attention. you probably didn't even want to, but now you're watching me get away with not becoming one and living happily." she breaths out angrily, making him clench his jaw.

"because you think your life is perfect? i mean, how will life be when voldemort kills the child. you see, we know about the prophecy. there's a little traitor amongst you. pettigrew is a lot less useless than expected." joseph snickers, making katherine turn pale in shock. he had to be lying, why would peter betray them.

"you're joking. you're just trying to anger me." katherine snaps, making him chuckle dryly.

"i have no reason to lie, katherine. i only lie when there is something to gain. the pain you feel knowing your friend betrayed you, is good enough for me." joseph snickers, making her blood boil in anger. she doesn't think twice before casting curses at him. he laughs manically as he blocks all of them. the duel soon turns into a battle to the death as they both start blasting curses at each other. it quickly becomes obvious they both don't want to waste their time, so they use one more curse at the exact same time, both getting hit by it.

"sectumsempra." "avada kedavra."
