"i can't believe that you're marrying james today. remember when you wouldn't admit you had feelings for him." katherine says teasingly as she helps lily adjust her veil. they're both sitting on a couch, facing the mirror and katherine can't help but smile.

"yeah. now i'm marrying the bloody fool. it's not too late to runaway, right?" lily jokes and katherine snorts, shaking her head. as she looks at lily through their reflection, she can't help but smile at the glow she had. lily looks absolutely gorgeous in her wedding dress. "i'm not going to lie. i'm a little nervous."

"i'm sure that's normal. after all you're about to begin a new chapter in your life." katherine points out and lily smiles appreciatively. "you look absolutely stunning, lils. he'll probably drop dead before you reach the end of aisle."

"i wouldn't be surprised." lily giggles, resting her head on her best friend's shoulder. "you're up next. soon you'll be the one wearing the white dress."

"as much as i'm not objecting to that idea, i don't think sirius and i are thinking of that at the moment. i think we're just trying to enjoy every moment together for the time being." katherine says and lily nods in understanding, before sitting up with a grin.

"there is something i must tell you before we go." lily says in excitement, making katherine look at each questioningly. "i'm pregnant."

"merlin's beard. oh, lily! i'm so happy for you. does he know yet?" katherine asks with the happiest grin ever and lily shakes her head sheepishly.

"but he will soon. i just wanted to get today over first. so that he can't runaway before i tell him." lily says teasingly and katherine shakes her head. a knock at the door, announces that it's time for them to go.

"come on. let's go before james actually runs away." katherine says teasingly and lily bursts into laughter as they walk out of the room. the two girls join the bridesmaids and the bride's father. katherine stands in between of the bridesmaids and lily, as maid of honour. as the doors open the sound of the orchestra playing fills her ears and she notices the guests standing up.

one by one, the bridesmaids walks out, with a wide smile and katherine glances at lily one last time, before following suit. at the end of the aisle, she sees a nervous james fiddling with his tie and sirius slapping his hand away from the tie. she has to bite her lip to stop herself from laughing as remus as always is looking up hopelessly, seeming as if he was silently praying for his friends' salvation. sirius looks back up and smiles at the sight of her, making her shake head.

"stop being absolute fools, you're getting married james." katherine says to them silently as she walks past them to stand across from them. james straightens up as lily and her father slowly walk in. katherine can't help but smile softly as she watches james look at lily in admiration, before she glances at sirius who is already looking at her. a blush rises to her cheeks, before looking back at lily.

lily's father kisses her cheek, before handing her to james, who smiles happily and helps her up the two steps. lily turns and hands katherine her bouquet, before looking back at the groom. katherine can't help but be insanely happy for her two friends. she looks back up at sirius and he smiles, before mouthing i love you. she smiles, before mourning it back at him.
