"is that everything?" sirius asks as he crosses his arms over his chest and glances from the house back to his friends and godson. they had just packed everything they needed into a car and had told sirius where they were going.

"yup. that's pretty much it. hopefully, we'll be back soon." james says as lily buckles harry into the car and sirius smiles softly with a nod. "it's going to get lonely over there."

"you're going to drive her crazy after a few days. but i know you guys will manage." sirius smiles softly and he nods in agreement. "remus hates that he couldn't come."

"i know. i hate that too. but we have to do this. he stayed at the hospital right?" james asks and sirius nods in confirmation as he looks down sadly. james can sense his pain and smiles weakly. "are you going to be okay?"

"yeah. yeah. i'll be fine." sirius lies and james can see right through his lie.

"i have a hard time believing that." james says and sirius sighs. he didn't want to worry his best friend, mostly because he already had to worry about his own family.

"it's fine. you should just focus on making sure that the little one and lily are safe. i'm going to miss you." sirius says reassuringly and even though james isn't convinced, that he is okay, he decides to respect sirius' choice to not talk about it and drop it.

"i'll miss you, too." james says as they give each other a hug and lily walks up to them with a warm smile.

"you'll write to use, right? keep us up to date. about everything. katherine, you, remus and even the order." lily hums making sirius chuckle softly and nod. "and also, i hope you and remus can take care of each other. i know it's hard with katherine, the full moons etc. but stick together okay?"

"of course. we'll be fine. don't worry your little ginger head for us." sirius says teasingly, making her hit him and james snicker as he shakes his head. "i hate that we won't be able to throw the biggest birthday party for harry's first birthday."

"well, we still have many birthdays to celebrate after that. thanks to your beautiful, strong girlfriend, who will wake up soon. if you don't send a letter telling us she's awake i will murder you." lily says firmly, making him throw his hands in the air.

"okay. okay. i will." he chuckles, before taking a deep breath. "you guys should go. you have to get there as soon as possible."

"we know." james sighs as they make their way to the car. lily turns around and gives sirius a hug, making him take a deep breath and hug her back.

"take care of yourself, sirius. and stay strong. i know it's hard, but don't loose hope. she'll be fine." lily says, making him nod softly, before she pulls away and gets in the car, leaving james and sirius by themselves for a moment.

"she's right. katherine will be fine and you have to stay strong. i know it's hard. and i hate that i can't be here for you, but things will get better." james says firmly making sirius hum softly with a weak smile.

"it's okay. don't worry. your family is important. i'd do the same if i were you. just keep them safe. dumbledore will soon tell us how we'll tackle this and then you guys can come back." sirius states firmly, making james grin before they hug each other one last time.

"i seriously will miss you, padfoot."
