katherine felt extremely nervous as her friends laughed happily as the hogwarts express stopped. she knew james explained the whole situation to his parents back in november, but nevertheless, she was terrified of meeting them. what if they only saw her as the daughter of charles avery, the death eater or just a slytherin girl trying to use their son and his best friend. so many negative thoughts haunted her mind as they stand up to make their way out. as she's about to reach out for her bags, someone else beats her to it, making her glare at him playfully.

"i can carry my own bags, sirius." she says pointedly, making him chuckle and peck her lips.

"i know. but you don't have too." he points out, making her roll her eyes as they make their way out of the train. she looks around and watches all the parents hug their children happy to see them. it was something she was used to seeing and never feel, her father wouldn't even bother to pick her up so he would send someone else to do it.

"i can't believe we don't have to spend every day together for the next two months." lily pouts as she looks at katherine who smiles sadly.

"i know. i can't believe i have to spend it with your boyfriend and mine." katherine says teasingly, making lily playfully hit her. both girls pout, before pulling each other in a hug.

"if you don't write to me, katherine. i will murder you." she says pointedly, making katherine chuckle and shake her head.

"same for you, lils." katherine smiles, making them pull away from the hug. lily goes to say goodbye to the others, before leaving them.

"you sure you'll be able to put up with literally the two most chaotic of us?" remus asks, making her snort as sirius wraps an arm around her waist.

"nope. i am not sure. but this will be fun, right?" katherine asks remus hopefully and he chuckles as sirius rolls his eyes with an amused smile. remus hugs the girl quickly.

"i'll write to you to make sure you're doing okay." remus chuckles before he says goodbye to his friends and goes to his parents, who happily hug him, before they leave and help him with his bags. peter waves at them, before going to his own parents.

"come on. before my parents thinks i'm up to no good again." james grumbles, making the couple chuckle as they follow him.

"aren't you always?" katherine asks teasingly, making james glare at her playfully over his shoulder, before looking ahead with a grin at the sight of his parents. katherine's nervousness reappears and she bites her lip, sirius notices it, making him kiss her forehead reassuringly.

"you'll be fine." he hums softly, before he lets her go and puts their bags down as they stop in front of them.

"oh, sirius. i hope you also behaved." james' mother says sternly, but her smile told a different story. it was clear that she was happy to see the two boys again after a long year. she hugs him happily and he chuckles. as she pulls away, she notices katherine, who is nervously standing on the side. "oh, sirius! she is absolutely beautiful!"

"she is." sirius smiles proudly as katherine blushes. the mother walks up to her and pulls her in a hug. katherine is slightly shocked at first, before hugging her back. her heart swells at the love and affection from the mother.

"it's such a pleasure finally meeting you, katherine. james has told us all about you, and i'm so happy to have you with us." the mother says happily, making her blush take a darker shade.

"the pleasure is all mine, mrs. potter." katherine beams and she can't help but gush over the slytherin girl.

"please, call me euphemia, darling." she hums as she pulls away, but doesn't let go of her just yet as she turns to her husband. "fleamont. isn't she a darling? i wish we could change her last name to potter, but that wouldn't matter since it would change to black soon."

"euphemia, calm down. they just got together." her husband chuckles as he notices the shocked look on katherine's face. james snickers as his mother had rendered even sirius all flustered. "we are so happy to have you with us this summer, katherine. and before you even dare call me mr. potter, call me fleamont."

"noted. thank you so much for having me." katherine beams as euphemia let's go of her and walks up to her husband. sirius walks back up to her and wraps an arm around her shoulder.

"see? i told you, you'd be fine."
